Inside a Camry in the middle of the road between Salem and the designated target's safehouse, Dean and Andre had a last-minute briefing on how the situation would go down. Dean would enter the house, hopefully, maintaining stealth as long as he could with the help of I/R feed from the drone.
They got a drone after a little bit of detour to Portland, Maine. They met the Peacekeeper and he let them borrow the drone after paying 500$ for it. It was quite cheap, maybe a little bit of discount since he helped Sarah, but well, who knew? The drone was in the trunk and ready to be used.
"Just get the fuck out after you got the kid, right?" Andre said as he had understood his job as the getaway driver.
"Yeah. Turn off your car light, and keep your heads down. I don't want you to be a casualty of a stray fire and stay 500 meters away from the house," Dean instructed.
"And what's your way of entry?" Andre asked.
"Drop me 100 meters away from the house, and park your car 500 meters away from the house. I'm not trying to scare you, but this is really between life and death," Dean said.
"Yeah, I got that."
Dean jumped out of the car with his backpack as the car was still moving. He immediately dashed into the nearest forest. The region wasn't exactly filled with houses. In fact, the only house in the radius of 200 meters seemed to be that house. The place was still littered with corn fields, surprisingly.
Dean pulled the M4 from his back and attached a silencer at the end of the barrel. He moved as quietly as possible through the forest until he arrived at the edge of the forest. From there, he observed the house using the scope of his rifle.
The kidnappers' car was still there, so it was safe to assume that they were inside of the house. He needed to wait until Andre flew the MAV from the back of the car. He wore an earpiece on his ear so Andre could communicate to him easily.
His clothing was pretty much the same as the clothing that he wore when he went to Hannah's house albeit this time, he brought an M4 instead of just a mere pistol. The M4 was equipped with a 1-8x scope alongside with that silencer.
"Drone's launched. Check the feed, Dean."
Dean put his phone in his left hand and looked at the drone feed. Just like what Andre had told him, two people were showing up in thermals. All of them were in the living room while one unknown thermal signature was inside the bedroom.
Dean could choose to exterminate the kidnappers, but it might not rattle the cage enough. He wanted to put Mick on the edge. A person that was on the edge always made mistakes. Dean would take advantage of that without any doubt. It might be sweet revenge for Scarlet's assassination attempt. It was better to knock them out.
Dean approached the house from the back door. There was no CCTV. This would be easy. The house was a country house with bare minimum to tech upgrade. The lock on the door still used key instead of RFID reader like the one in the dorm.
Dean put his lock pick on the door and started picking on the door. The door opened without any meaningful difficulty. The kidnappers might notice that. Dean immediately hid himself in the kitchen while watching the drone feed.
As expected, one of them was walking to the kitchen to check things out. They only found that the door suddenly opened. "Oy, Volkov, you forgot to lock the door, didn't you?"
"No, I locked it, why?" Volkov answered.
Dean looked peeked from the kitchen counter. Thanks to his dark colored clothing, seeing him wouldn't be easy at all. Little did the kidnapper know, but he had a rifle aimed at his head this whole time. The kidnapper then went outside with his .44 magnum pistol on his hand.
Dean sneaked right behind him while maintaining quiet footsteps. As the kidnapper looked around, Dean put the end of his gun barrel at the kidnapper's neck. "Who's inside? Just Volkov?"
The kidnapper nodded.
Without any hesitation, Dean smacked the back of his rifle to the neck of the kidnapper. The body immediately fell to the ground, but Dean managed to catch it so it didn't create anymore noise that it should. Dean grabbed a cable tie from his jacket and tied the kidnapper down.
Dean immediately went into the house and looked at his phone again. The drone feed showed him that the hostile was still in the living room. Dean approached the living room slowly. He then did the same thing to Volkov.
Dean put his rifle at his head, "You move. You die. Where's the boy?"
"Bedroom." The kidnapper shivered.
"Key?" Dean asked.
The kidnapper put a key on top of the table. Dean smashed the back of his head with his rifle and tied him down. Dean picked up the key and headed to the bedroom. He opened the bedroom and searched for the boy.
As expected, he was cuffed to a bed with his mouth gagged. Poor boy must be seven or something. Dean let out of his gag and the boy immediately screamed. Dean then shushed him.
"Mrs. Larsen sent me to pick you up, I'm here to rescue you," Dean put his rifle away then opened the cuff on the boy's hand.
He then helped the malnourished boy standing up. It didn't look like the kidnappers fed him well. Besides, at this time, Hannah should have gone to the police office or the MP office to apply for the witness protection program. It was 3.00 A.M. here. It should be around 6.00 A.M. in Almara Island.
The boy stopped screaming as Dean mentioned that name. He figured that the boy couldn't stand up on his own. He carried the boy on his shoulder and called Andre to pick him up.
"Andre, we have him. Take the drone away and get to the house, quick."
Dean ran towards the living door and looked for the car key. He brought the car key with him so the thief wouldn't be able to chase him down. He dashed towards the front door and kicked it open.
The sound of tire screeching came right in front of him as Andre stopped the car as quickly as he could. Dean put the boy into the backseat and Andre pressed the gas pedal as fast as he could. They left the house as Dean threw away the car key to the corn field in hope that nobody even found it.
"Damn, man, if that's the high octane shit you have to face everyday, you'll be in the special operation force in no time," Andre commented on the rescue operation.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever, poor kid probably malnourished to high hell, kid, what's your name?" Dean asked.
"Liam. My name is Liam."
"Liam, do you want to call your mother?" Dean offered.
"Yes."
Dean called Hannah's number. Hannah was ecstatic, needless to say. Dean asked for a video call request and Hannah gladly accepted that. Dean turned on the camera and he saw where Hannah was. It seemed that she was in a police station outside of Almara Island, probably in the mainland.
Hannah smiled and waved at the camera. Dean showed the interior of the car and showed her son sitting down on the backseat. Dean gave his phone to Liam and he had a conversation with his mother.
"Hi sweetie, how are you?"
"Mom, I'm hungry."
"I know sweetie, but please don't give Dean and his friend too much trouble, ok?"
"Yes mom."
Dean just listened what the conversation was all about. The first thing that Hannah asked was how often the kidnappers fed him. It was the right question. The boy looked malnourished, and perhaps, his rumbling stomach told more story than expected. Well, perhaps, he might need the anti-ulcer medicine that he used.
She also said that Liam had been kidnapped for a month or so. No wonder why both of them were like lovebirds. In the meantime, Dean and Andre talked about what they should do next. Dean said that the best place to go was Portland, Maine. They needed to return the drone first.
After that, it was the case of knowing Hannah's whereabouts and Dean could breathe free air as Mick would be put into prison for all of the criminal activities that he had done. If Hannah testify, the rest would follow along. It was now the time of waiting for the testimony.
