Present Day
Jordyn's POV
"What should I wear tonight,"
my friend Izzy shouted from my closet.
Tonight is a party for the incoming seniors before school starts. The party is going to be at a pier and there's a giant bonfire. One more week and then we go back to that prison.
"Uhh I don't know!"
I screamed back a little too loudly.
"Get off of twitter you lazy ass and come help me pick out an outfit for me and you."
she said dragging me into my closet.
After 20 minutes of searching through my closet Izzy finally settled on a cute blue ruffle tank, jean jacket, white shorts, and aviators. I chose a white top with a tribal print design, pink shorts, and cute sandals. It was five o'clock and the party started at six. Izzy bolted to the bathroom to take a shower and I sat down in front of my mirror and started to loosely curl my hair. I did my simple makeup routine of lipgloss, eyeliner, and mascara. Izzy sat down in front of me doing her makeup while I was straightening her hair. It was 5:50 and we had to get going now. Izzy and I said goodbye to my parents and got into my red convertible.
The dock was only 10 minutes away, but there was a huge traffic jam. Sighing, I sat back in my seat and waited for the cars to start moving again.
"Oh my god!! I love this song!,"
Izzy exclaimed turning up the radio and belting out the lyrics to some song.
"Stop singing you sound like a dying monkey," I remarked.
She glared at me and I stared back at her for a while. I was brought back to reality by an ear-piercing car horn and some woman yelling at me to go. The traffic had cleared and I didn't even notice. Hitting the pedal, the car was slowly moving again.
-----------------------------------------
Once we arrived at the party, all we saw were teens everywhere dancing to the blasting music. Izzy and I walked toward where our friends, Blake and Izzy's boyfriend Trey, told us to meet them. We were standing under a large oak tree when Blake and Trey pop out of nowhere. Izzy runs toward Trey and wraps her arms around his neck while he plants a kiss on her forehead. Sometimes I wish I had a boyfriend, but no I'm single and spend my friday nights at home eating chinese food and watching netflix. Blake snaps me out of my gaze when he asks me if I want to go get something to drink.
We're walking over to the place with the drinks and food when he randomly asks,
"Hey, have you heard about the new guy that's coming to the school?"
"No, I don't think so. What's his name?"
I reply.
"I don't know. But all I know is that he plays, well played, quarterback for his old school and he's gonna want to play here. But too bad Lakeland High already has an awesome quarterback, this guy,"
Blake starts flexing his muscles and doing these weird poses.
"Blake you're so weird! People are starting to stare. Stop!"
I say with uncontrolled laughter as I drag him away from the crowd of people watching and taking videos and pictures.
"Yeah, but you love me,"
he winks and wraps an arm around my waist. Blake and I aren't dating if you're wondering. We just have a close friendship.
We met back with Izzy and Trey at the bonfire. They were roasting marshmallows by the fire while cuddling. Cutest couple award goes to them. I just love fires. They're so relaxing and full of color. I look over and see Blake's marshmallow has turned into a ball of fire. He doesn't even notice because he's talking to one of his football teammates. I slap him in the head to get his attention.
"Ow what'd you do that for?"
he whines.
I point to his marshmallow and he stares at it with wide eyes. Before I know it, he pulls it out of the fire and starts stomping on it with his flip flops. Stupid move Blake. The burnt marshmallow started seeping into his shoe and his skin started to get red and blistered.
"Ugh come on Blake let's get you cleaned up." I say helping him up.
