"Yes older sister, thank you very much." The phone call ended and I can't help but release a sigh. Asking my older sister who already has a family to lend me money at the age of 34. You might think my life Is miserable just by the 3rd sentence. Well, yes you're right but, despite of the fact that my life is miserable, I enjoyed most of it.
I patted my king beetle buddy whose comfortably sitting atop of my shoulder clinging on my coat and resume walking through the crowded streets. Some adults reacts as they saw something incredibly weird whenever they noticed Kaizer the 7th on my shoulder. But the children's reactions whenever they saw the scene makes my heart felt warm.
Well, mostly boys, and few girls. Because girls hates insects. They're in their stage of life where collecting something makes them happy. Examples of that is collecting insects like butterfly, ladybugs and of course, the coolest one, the beetles.
I have an abnormal affection towards beetles when I was a child. My father even gave me the stockroom in our house which then I filled with jars of beetles I'm taking care of. I'm not the likes who kills insects and pin them on the wall or a board as a design. For that reason I had few friends on my childhood. Because that time, collecting insects are child's trend. And we often go to each other's house to show off our collections and I always accuse my friends who had pinned insects on the walls as killers which result to their mothers to warn their child to not play with me. I dont regret it though .
High school and college, I still collect them. Our backyards was a graveyard for beetles who had to die because of their short lifespans. I graduated as an entomologist and got accepted by various universities because of my high grades.
I could have live a happy life because of that but I didn't even last 1 year because there's so many insect dissection happening that I can't take it anymore.
And that results to who am I today. An unmarried guy who sells booklets and other stuff about insects which created by me. It's not successful that's why I'm always borrowing money from my sisters and brothers whose luckily so kind to me. At least I have them even though I'm not always with them.
"Thief! Thief!"
A woman's cry resounded from behind me. I turned my head behind and saw a bald man hugging a bag while running. What should I do? It's coming straight towards my direction! Should I confront him? Or just let the others deal with him?
I have not enough time to think because the thief was fastly approaching me. I noticed that all the people has step aside or step back with shocked expression. What are they doing? There's too many of them yet there's no one stopping him! I didn't notice but I myself was already on the side making the thief's path clear. No, this is wrong. I need to do something.
"Hold tight Kaizer! "
I reminded my beetle who of course didn't reply. I jump at the thief once he was right in front of me which knock him down. I locked him improperly by just hugging his arms and a hot feeling spread on my stomach. What is this! Not now!
Luckily, some of the bystanders rush to help me and the thief was successfully immobilised. I picked up the bag and hand it on the woman who owns it.
"T-thank you Mr. !"
The woman thanked me but then her expression of thankfulness was replaced by shocked expression and then she covered her mouth looking on my abdomen. Wait! I checked my shoulder and I didn't felt Kaizer.
"Mr.! Your sta-."
"Kaizer!?"
I ignored the woman's sentence because I panicked looking for Kaizer. His name is Kaizer the 7th because last year, I decided to just name my hercules beetles Kaizer because I always felt sad using a different name to call my hercules beetles. That's why from that day, i named My hercules beetles Kaizer one after another and Kaizer the 7th was of course the 7th.
After seconds of looking around on the floor ignoring the worried gaze of the people around me and the hot feeling in my stomach. I finally find Kaizer the 7th on the middle of the road.
"Kaizer!"
I exclaimed happily and rushed towards my beetle. I kneeled and scooped the struggling Kaizer with his back on the asphalt road.
"I said hang on tight right? I thought I was going to loose you! "
I worriedly said to my beetle while smiling. A genuine tears falls involuntarily in my eyes as Kazier crawled back to my sleeves. Thank God. I was so careful with my beetles that I can proudly say that none of my beetles had died through an accident.
I heard loud shouts and cries from my back so I decided to stand and faced them but I heard my very own spine cracked as I was thrown forward. I landed on the ground and my visions turned red. Theirs a loud ringing in my ears that made me nauseous but I can't move an inch of my body. My vision turned darker and darker but I clearly saw Kaizer upside down in front close to my face. He's struggling to stand but some of his legs are reaching to me. The last vision I saw was Kaizer's insect eyes looking at me.
'Papa'
