"Of course," Rachel tried to smile, but it looked bland. "Without any disturbance from humans, nature will return to normal. But, that might take hundreds of years or even thousands."
Nathan smiled while Alina could only look down with a slow and heavy breath.
"This is ridiculous," Rachel said. "I don't know why I have to think this far. After all, when that happens, when nature returns to being beautiful as it should be, humans are no longer there to witness it all."
"But at least," Nathan said, "we can carry that thought in our deaths."
Rachel D'Amethyst glanced at Nathan, rather than asking, why we should bring the thought of changing nature to its beauty later in our death.
Nathan laughed almost silently, his gaze fixed again on the middle of the sea.
