The floor of the hut was like a low platform supported by several large beams at the bottom, consisting of an array of planks. But at least, the roof of the hut made of woven thatch was able to withstand the heat of the sun in the middle of the day.

While Alexander took out a box of dry food and a white jerry-can containing drinking water from his backpack, Denia checked her two pistols, making sure they were loaded.

The wind that blew from the ocean carried not only the smell of salt with it but also a slightly foul smell. However, all of that was used to Alexander. As for Denia, although previously she had always lived in a clean and tidy environment, ever since the chaos broke out, she had started to get used to the uncomfortable conditions like now.

"Hey," said Denia in the midst of them enjoying their lunch. "Are you also going to turn into like those cannibals? Or me?"

Alexander shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know," he said.
