Chereads / The Last Man in the Universe / Chapter 49 - A little tempting

Chapter 49 - A little tempting

That morning, at Akimura Tech's facility building, five super-sophisticated wheelless vehicles had just been parked in the front yard of the building itself. One of them is almost three times larger than the other four, and is white, while the other four are black and blue.

Doctor Alina seemed to get off the big vehicle, followed by two big men wearing black suits, then a man in his 70s who wore all-white clothes, none other than Mr. Hidetoshi Akimura himself. And then four scientists, one of whom is a woman.

After getting off the vehicle, they immediately entered the building.

"I didn't see the man?" asked Mr. Akimura when they were already in a special room. "Where is he?"

All eyes were on Doctor Alina who had been the supervising doctor for Yu for a week, the person Mister Akimura was talking about just now.

Alina didn't know what to say. One thing the beautiful doctor thought was that Yu might still be sleeping.

"Wait a minute," said Alina who then left the room.

Inside his room, Yu thought he heard someone calling his name, and a knock on the door.

Half lazily, Yu got up and got off the bed, then walked towards the door.

"A minute!" he said.

However, Yu was taken aback when Alina's figure appeared in front of his eyes as soon as the bedroom door opened.

"Alina?"

"Oh, God," Alina looked down and covered her eyes with her hand because the man was completely naked.

As if he had just realized that he was not wearing any clothes, Yu gasped and closed the door leaving only a small gap.

"I'm so sorry…"

"Did you have fun again last night?" Alina said with one long breath.

"N—No," Yu shook his head with an awkward face. "I don't–"

"Do you realize what time it is now?"

Yu glanced at the clock attached to one of his bedroom walls. 09:20:15 AM.

"Oh, shit!"

"Yeah, shit!" repeated Alina. "Just go take a shower now. Mister Akimura is waiting for you in the meeting room."

"Oh, my God." Yu rushed to grab his towel. "I'm sorry," he said after he left the room and was about to go to the bathroom. "Really, I…"

"Never mind, it's fine."

Yu smiled. "By the way, my condolences on the passing of your fiancé."

"Thank you," Alina took a deep breath. Well, the news must have reached this building, she thought. "Just hurry and go take a shower, and immediately head to the meeting room later."

"Okay!"

"Hey!"

Yu stopped in his tracks and turned to Alina. "Yes?"

Alina smiled. "You've got a good one down there."

Yu was a little surprised and gawked at the doctor's words, which seemed unusual for her to say such words.

And Alina herself seemed to have just realized she had said something she shouldn't have said.

"Ermm, thanks, I guess," Yu smiled, he was so happy with just such a small word from Alina. "I need to–"

"Yeah, yeah, just go!" Alina threw away her blushing face.

With a joyful feeling, Yu headed to the bathroom, while Alina headed back to the meeting room.

"Oh my God," Alina mumbled half inaudibly, "what did I say?"

In the bathroom, Yu was still thinking about Alina's smile and compliments on him, especially on something that was between his crotch. And with that thought, Yu couldn't help but get an erection.

Yu chuckled as he shook his head under the pouring water from the shower.

Could it be because Alina is now free from all the things that have always annoyed her after James' death?

Yeah, it's possible!

However, Yu fell silent when he recalled the dream he had yesterday. Dreams during naps make him anxious and worried.

No, no, no!

Maybe Alina said that because she accidentally saw his nakedness because Yu was not dressed and instead just opened the bedroom door.

That's enough! Just stop your stupid thinking, Yu!

Fifteen minutes later, Yu was finally in the meeting room. All eyes were on him, and this made him awkward in guilt because he should have been there since eight o'clock waiting for the important people to come, not the other way around.

"You know you should have flown at ten o'clock this morning as we scheduled, don't you?"

Yu gulped and nodded at Mr. Akimura's words just now.

"And now," Mr. Akimura glanced at the watch on his wrist, "five minutes to ten o'clock."

"I'm really sorry," said Yu, lowering his head.

"Never mind," said the Japanese man later, "after all, we have to postpone your departure until one o'clock in the afternoon."

Yu took a deep breath. "Thank you."

"Please!" Mr. Akimura invited one of the four scientists to speak up.

A young man no older than Yu himself comes forward. However, Yu was well aware that the young man was smarter than he was, obviously.

"All right," said the young scientist, he greeted Yu. "I will tell you a few things regarding your mission later, Mister Ue."

"Yu," Yu said with a smile. "Enough with Y and U letters."

"All right, Yu," said the young scientist again while showing a rectangular device like a transparent tablet in his hand.

Bleep!

A holographic light appeared in front of everyone, revealing the shape of a spaceship moving slowly, showing every side of it.

"This is the plane that will take you to the Black Eye," said the young man. "Don't worry," he saw the confusion on Yu's face, "in its original size, this spaceship is five times bigger than a bus."

"Aah…" Yu nodded. "Then, what should I do?"

The young scientist smiled, "Not much," he said as he fiddled with the screen of his device. "We will control this plane from the base until you leave Earth's atmosphere. And after that, once you are out of Earth orbit, the plane will automatically be on auto-pilot."

"So, I'm not allowed to determine the direction of the plane's flight out there?" Yu asked.

"Unless things go wrong on your way," said the young scientist. "Otherwise, we think it would be best if you just fly on auto-pilot."

"Very well," Yu nodded again.

Bleep!

The image on the hologram in front of everyone changed, showing some of the parts inside the spacecraft.

"This is the cockpit where you'll be sitting there during your flight," said the young scientist, "especially when you're leaving Earth's atmosphere."
