Doran was dead. He arrived home with a terrible fever. Dorothea had no idea what happened to him. He spent four days out and, when he arrived , he was like that. He didn't even make it through the night. The doctor said he was with an infection, caused by a wound. A cut. Dorothea understood nothing of the matter so, she had to believe the professional.
After she moved in with him, the deal was for them to stay together for a year and then, she would be free to go. But Doran was good to her and, after six months of they sharing the same house, he asked her to marry him.
Dorothea didn't love him. But she liked him very much. And it would be not only stupid, but reckless on her part, to keep waiting for Anthony to come to her.
