"Oh, no." She whispered softly as she quickly removed the socket from the iron; she even attempted to repair the burnt cloth, but it was too late; she knew the dress was expensive, so she was even more nervous; she was going to her boss, but she had already seen her before she could say what she wanted to say.
"What the hell happened to my dress? You're an idiot!" Mathilda almost screamed; she is the owner of the house where Vera works; she was only recently arrived, and it was believed that the woman was brutal to her maids, and that if she didn't fire them, they would be wounded and publicly humiliated.
"I didn't mean to do that; I didn't expect your iron to heat up so quickly, I apologize. Please, I won't do it again—"
Vera was unable to finish her sentence when Mathilda abruptly pulled her hair till she exited their street; many people were staring at them, and no one wanted to intervene.
