She concluded that she had only been married for a week, that Eulogio had mistreated her, that she did not love him, and that she would never be able to love him, so she went out and found a rope, which she put around her neck.
She knew she'd never been happy again since the only man who understood her and loved her despite her flaws was no longer alive. When she was certain she was ready to end her life, she closed her eyes and leaped into the chair she was sitting on, where the rope eventually strangled her neck.
However, she was able to speak before she took her own life.
