Jacob turned to the nearest mage just in time to see a fireball being aimed directly at him. Fireball was one of the lowest tier fire element spells that was extremely easy to use and only took a couple of seconds to cast. However this couple seconds was all the time Jacob needed in order to move to the side of the mage and send a punch into his midsection to disrupt the spell. He then cut down with his sword into the doubled over mage.

Jacob turned to the sound of a sword being drawn to see the armoured form of the Captain killing the wounded guards and got an influx of notifications.

He quickly put his new stat points into dexterity and gained even more of an advantage. It should be known that in his past life, although Jacob had by no means been close to the level of a professional gamer he had still been above average. Before the assimilation he had been able to reach level 80 while most players were around the level 60 mark. Add in the 3 years after the assimilation where Jacob had struggled to survive but continued to strengthen himself and gain experience and the fact he had disabled the systems assistance and could use all of his current strength to it's greatest potential and Jacob was virtually unstoppable in this low level starting area. He quickly cut his way through the guards and mages alike alongside the Captain until there was only one mage remaining.

Jacob checked his stat sheet,

Speed: 16
Dexterity: 20
Endurance: 16

Jacob decided to split his stat points between intelligence and wisdom, raising them both to 20 in preparation for when he would eventually learn some spells. He could feel that his strength had increased by a large margin from when he had first picked up his weapon.
Jacob and the Captain moved together as they began to advance towards the last mage in the group they had been fighting. It was obvious that the remaining mage wasn't normal as he had on a set of battle armour and carried a mage sword that could be used to channel spells. Jacob quickly used identify on the enemy.
*Battle Mage Fergus - Level 15 (Bronze)
Jacob grinned to himself, a bronze boss so early on was sure to trouble most players and would likely require a group of around 10 players to defeat. NPC's that were identified as a boss had increased stats when compared to a normal NPC and the tier of the boss effected how much their stats would be improved by. The tiers for bosses started at the lowest level of bronze, silver, gold and platinum until they received a massive boost in strength when they reached the epic, legendary and ancient tiers. As the lowest tier boss this Battle Mage Fergus' stats wouldn't see much of an increase and would still be relatively easy for Jacob to defeat.
The Captain dashed to Fergus' left as Fergus cast an ice bolt towards them. Jacob managed to bring his sword up in time to deflect the ice bolt but was still pushed back a couple of steps by the impact. As the Captain slashed towards Fergus, Jacob took the time while he was distracted to get around behind him and land a couple of blows which dealt a massive amount of damage. Before they were able to land the final blow Fergus cast a fire barrier around himself causing them to have to retreat a couple of meters. However Jacob knew that at such a low level Fergus would be unable to maintain such a mana intensive spell, such as the fire barrier, for very long. As soon as the flames began to flicker and Fergus began preparing a new skill, Jacob dashed past the withering flames, taking a small amount of damage, and cut towards Fergus' head. He felt a shudder go through his arm as his sword was parried and quickly launched into a flurry of follow up attacks. Fergus' sword skills were not very high so it was not long before Jacob was able to find a gap in his defences and bring the fight to an end.

'Well that was easier than expected' Jacob thought to himself while updating his stats, he put 3 points into intelligence and wisdom and 1 point into dexterity.
