"Mara, are you coming back, or are the two of you just planning on standing in the doorway all day?" Loma called from the living room.
"Be right there," Mara called back.
She leaned out the door and looked into the shadows cast by awning. Then she squatted and checked the dark patches on the ground near the bushes just in case.
Mara let out a disappointed sigh. They were just plain old boring shadows. "Didn't you bring Erebus?"
"No, but I can summon him if you like."
Ozul made a beckoning gesture with one finger, and a swath of blackness stretched from his fingertip, spilling down like waterfall toward the ground. A moment later Erebus took shape, his ruby eye glowing as he moved from his world to this one.
