Since Wren hadn't objected to dinner, Rowan continued to act as if they were simply having a quiet evening at home, with everything exactly as it should be.
Wren was obviously still half-trapped in his shadows, but that meant that he'd fought to be half-present, too. Rowan planned on taking full advantage of for as long as it lasted.
With any luck, he could lure Wren into accepting the food and rest he so desperately needed if he was going to be strong enough to be more than half-present.
"Good. I'm glad you're staying," Rowan gave Wren another smile, forcing himself to ignore the way Wren's gaze had yet to move from his lips.
Rowan wanted to kiss him so badly it hurt, but he couldn't risk doing anything to trigger Wren's shadows into dragging him away again. He needed to let Wren come to him on his own.
A little at a time. That was the plan, and it was obviously working. He couldn't possibly abandon it now.
