"What's wrong?" Nicasi clutched Wren's upper arm as the movement of the shadows slowed then came to a stop.
Nicasi had grown accustomed to traveling this way, which happened more frequently than he ever imagined it would thanks to Wren always demanding his company for various things that had nothing at all to do with him. At some point in their relationship, Wren had stopped yanking him here and there at lightning speed just to make him sick. But he never just…stopped.
As the shadow-shapes of the Orderly plane wavered behind the backdrop of the veil that separated the worlds, Nicasi fought back the dizziness that came along with standing still in a place like this. His fingers tightened on Wren's arm as he attempted to breathe through the discomfort, but surprisingly Wren didn't mock him.
He merely narrowed his eyes and searched the space around them for something that Nicasi would never be capable of seeing.
