A part of Rowan thought Wren would still try to dissuade him, but he nodded once, giving him permission to venture into the locked up place he hid all of his secret pain.
"I do want you to try," Wren said. "But only if you promise me now that you will stop before you hurt yourself. Stay within your limits. I know how you are. You'll try to take it all even if it makes you sick again."
"Wren, that's not —"
"Don't argue with me. That is my condition. A little at a time, as we discussed. Promise me."
Rowan sighed, and Wren cocked an eyebrow. Of course Wren was right, but that didn't mean Rowan needed to act pleased about it
"Okay. I promise. I'll stay within my limits."
Rowan sang quietly for a few minutes, stroking Wren's hair as he tried to get him to relax. As soon as he slipped past the barriers of Wren's spirit, he was immediately immersed in a cloud of excess Disorder.
