Nicasi didn't mean to feel Loma's energy just then, but something different about her physical condition jumped out at him through the connection of their brief embrace right before she stepped away from him.
He schooled his face into a neutral expression so he wouldn't alarm her and resisted the urge to ask if he could scan her more thoroughly.
Whatever it was, he could tell it wasn't life threatening. And he knew how much she disliked people treating her like she was fragile because of her illness.
But he couldn't just let it go completely.
He tried to keep his voice casual, thinking maybe he could use their new closeness to get her to open up without pissing her off too much. "How are you feeling lately?
