"Please just think about it. We can discuss it more with the others when Lysander has recovered. He will know the best approach," Alaric said as Wren and Loma continued to play. "Perhaps we correct the lies about you first, then announce your return after people know the truth. That way you won't be a target, as Rowan says."
"Ha. I've got you now." Loma slammed her piece on the board as she made a move that left Wren no chance of escape.
When Wren lay his queen on its side in concession of defeat, she smiled at her victory and immediately began to reset the board again. Rowan was just thrilled that someone had finally beaten him.
"I don't think people are as convinced by my father's stories as they pretend to be," Loma said. "Lately I've been spending more time in some of the villages. I've seen and heard things…people are just as hungry for a change as we are."
