Rowan retrieved his locket from where it sat on the bedside table next to the severed piece of Yamm's antler. He slipped the locket over his head, then on a whim grabbed the gift that the god had given him before going outside to see what Wren was going to bamboozle him with next.
"Why did you bring that hideous thing with you?" Wren glanced sideways at the antler in Rowan's hands.
Rowan shrugged. "I just want to look at it a little more closely. And for some reason it doesn't feel right keeping it in the house. Our house isn't big enough for all that…divinity."
"You are right. The only divinity that belongs in our house is your own."
"I'm not a god." Rowan stopped walking. "I don't know why I have to keep saying it over and over."
Wren stopped as well. "You have a shrine, you hear prayers and answer them. Your magic has grown more powerful than any human's ever could be. You—"
"So what if I do those things. I'm not a god. I'm not."
