Wren stood in the center of the room, completely motionless even though Rowan was waiting with open arms. His gaze narrowed, and Rowan shivered.
Tension rippled under the smooth lines of his stance, and his body practically vibrated with his barely contained anger. A red current of Disorder seethed around Wren's splayed fingertips. The fireplace crackled behind him.
In that moment, he looked more god than human, and you'd have to be blind to not see the power he'd inherited from his father.
Rowan held his breath, ensnared by the dangerous intent written on Wren's face. His heart fluttered wildly behind his ribs in anticipation.
Finally Wren's eyes released him from the snare. They flicked over the length of Rowan's body as if making sure he was actually there and in one piece, then moved across the embrace that was still waiting for him.
Wren blinked and gave his head a slight shake.
