Rowan sat at a table in the corner of the library behind several stacks of books that had grown so tall he could barely see over them. He hadn't selected any of them himself, but rather sent Mara off to find things related to poison and Disorder. It made her happy and gave him time to think.
His new Caissa board lay in its silk bag on the corner of the table, and a bag of apples leaned up against the side of the chair at his feet. Lili had insisted he take them all, with the exception of the one he'd infused with magic for her.
He didn't know what he was looking for exactly, but so far he hadn't found anything useful. The books Mara brought him ranged from tomes describing the principles of Disorder, to the history of the Order itself, to theoretical treatises on death and fear as a disruption of stability. It was all boring enough to make Rowan's eyes water, and he couldn't help but feel the treatises on death in particular were total nonsense.
