Chapter 42 - Battle

Chapter 42: Battle

Abium soon reached the main hall and looked around.

A few meters away from him, he noticed that multiple black-cloaked assassins surrounded three young soldiers and attacked them from all sides.

Like the other assassins, these black-cloaked assassins also covered their face in blue masks and appeared threatening.

But what caught Abium was the unique three-headed snake symbol on their cloaks.

'As I thought, these guys indeed belong to the Mysterious Organization that caused countless chaos in the past.'

He stopped his footsteps, scanned the assassins, and finally zeroed his gaze on the three young soldiers.

Unlike the soldiers he had seen at the entrance, these soldiers wore orange painted metal armors, gauntlets, black leather shoes, held golden hilted swords in their hands, and appeared stronger.

'They look like Elite Knights. All of them are third-tier warriors, huh.'

Abium guessed they must be Baron Auguinare's disciples with a simple glance and looked further.

On the farther end of the main hall, he noticed that Baron was struggling against two fourth-tier warriors and seemed to be in a better position than he had anticipated.

'At least, he isn't in any life-threatening danger.' He muttered inwardly and started walking towards the group of assassins encircling the Baron's disciples.

Although everyone in the main hall noticed his arrival, most of them didn't consider him a threat and retracted their gazes.

But just as he took the third step, an anxious voice came from one of the black-cloaked assassins.

"Fools! He is the Half-elf! Watson warned us not to underestimate him!"

One of the assassins suddenly spoke and urged others to attack him.

'Hm? Watson even warned them about me? Why did he think that I would help the Baron?' He narrowed his eyes in suspicion and soon shook his head.

Meanwhile, three Second-Tier cloaked Assassins and one Third-Tier Assassin stopped battling Baron's disciple and ran in his direction.

On the other hand, Abium didn't even mind their presence and quietly observed Baron Auguinare's actions.

At that moment, Baron was fiercely battling against two fourth-tier assassins and attempting to move towards the right side armory, but the two assassins stopped him continuously.

Abium's gaze sharpened as he saw their actions.

He took a deep breath, stepped forward, and ran towards the armory!

On the other hand, all assassins stopped battling and shifted their gazes towards him.

"Stop him!" "Don't let him get near the armory!" "Kill him!"

Various shouts echoed as almost half of the Assassins started running after him.

A single Second-Tier Warrior even used [Wind Walk] skill, decreased the distance between him and Abium, and almost arrived behind him.

Then, he gripped the sword tightly and slashed it at his neck.

But Abium suddenly ducked his head, turned around swiftly, thrust his sword at the enemy's chest, and proceeded to run.

His movement appeared perfect, quiet, and fast, giving no time for the enemy to even predict his move.

Soon, the Second-Tier Assassin looked at his chest with wide eyes and soon noticed a bloody hole.

"ARRGG!"

A sudden shriek came out of the Assassin's mouth, followed by a loud thud. His body soon twitched while painting the concrete floor in red color and slowly went motionless.

At that moment, everyone got frozen in shock and soon roared.

"Kill him."

They were enraged by his action and sprinted towards him to kill, leaving Baron's disciples alone in the main hall.

In just a few seconds, he became their main opponent. They also used different elemental skills and arrived closer to him.

Meanwhile, Abium stopped running, imbued mana into the long sword, and created an intermediate aura.

Then, he leaped towards the upcoming assassins and used a unique, intermediate sword skill called [Silent Slash].

Using this skill on the enemy could create a unique wave in the surrounding atmosphere and mislead a person's vision and hearing for a split second.

Anyone could easily block this [Silent Slash] if they were in a one-on-one fight.

But in group fights, this [Silent Slash] skill could become deadly.

Anyone who was beneath the Fourth-Tier would be affected by this skill.

Abium quietly parried the opponents' attacks, misled their senses, and even cut two Second-Tier Assassins' necks without even knowing them.

Then, he suddenly backed away, raised his hand, and cast the [Fire Orb] spell at the group of Assassins.

The next instant, a loud explosion echoed in the main hall.

More than five second-tier assassins were caught in the crimson fire and thrown off like the last time.

Baron Auguinare also noticed the changes and shouted at the confused disciples.

"Help that Half-elf, lads."

"Yes, Teacher."

The three disciples responded in unison and rushed towards Abium's direction to aide him.

No, one young man with dark-orange-colored hair suddenly turned his gaze towards Baron Auguinare and ran towards him.

He had deep-set brown eyes, pale skin, thin eyebrows, an average height, and looked 20 years old.

He was Baron's youngest disciple.

"I'll go and help our Teacher." He shouted as he started running.

On the other hand, the two disciples glanced at each other, nodded their heads, and moved towards Abium to help him.

Although Abium wasn't in any bad situation, he decided not to reveal too much of his strength and co-operated with them.

Meanwhile, Baron Auguinare shifted his gaze towards the two enemy Assassins and released chilling ice elemental energies to the surroundings.

Those ice elemental energies spread towards his body like a mist and soon created a crystalline layer of shield around his skin.

At that moment, the two enemy Assassins also unleashed their elemental energy and covered their bodies with fire and wind elemental energies.

Then, they gathered their elemental energies around their swords, leaped toward Baron, and attacked him.

Blocking those attacks, Baron took a deep breath, enveloped his sword with the ice elemental energies, and slashed at them.

The next instant, two knife-like ice crystals came out of his sword, flew towards the Assassins, and slammed onto their chests.

Once the ice crystals touched their chests, they exploded while releasing dense ice elemental energies around their bodies and soon restricted their movements.

Even if they had covered their bodies in wind and fire elemental energies, Baron's ice attack made them stumble back and slowed their movements.

In the meantime, Abium confronted two Third-Tier Warriors at a time and was about to use [Aura Slash] skill on them but suddenly froze.

He saw another hooded assassin walking out of the armory and stealthily moved towards Baron Auguinare.

He also held a long sword in his hand and waited for an opportunity to attack Baron sneakily.

Abium instantly realized the seriousness of the situation and muttered under his breath.

'Blink!'

The next instant, his figure turned blurry for a moment and then disappeared from there!

Meanwhile, the two Third-Tier Assassins got perplexed by his sudden disappearance and soon widened their eyes as they saw him reappearing a few meters away from them!

"How did he get there?" An assassin shouted in surprise and tried to chase after him.

On the other hand, Abium sprinted towards the Baron and soon saw that the darkish orange-haired young man was running up ahead.

"Hey! Look at your left!" He shouted at Baron's Disciple but noticed that he wasn't even responding to his words.

"Idiot!"

Cursing inwardly, Abium ran with everything he got and soon realized that the Assassin had already arrived near Baron and hid behind a white marble pillar.

'No good. The Assassin is already aiming his sword.' He frowned deeply and cast the [Blink] spell again.

A second later, he disappeared from there and reappeared next to Baron's disciple.

He instantly gave a smack on his head, pointed his sword tip at the white-marbled pillar, and roared.

"There is one more Assassin hiding over there."

Saying so, he ran past him and moved closer to Baron while adding.

"Back me up."

On the other hand, Baron's disciple nodded his head subconsciously and followed after Abium closely.

Meanwhile, Baron noticed Abium's action and thought something must have gone wrong.

'Why is he running here?' He tried to look around, but the other two Assassins attacked him fiercer and gave him no chance to scan the surroundings.

Meanwhile, Abium saw that the lurking Assassin leaped from the white pillar and arrived behind Baron.

After that, he gripped the pitch-black sword, raised it above his chest, and aimed it at Baron's back.

Abium's face hardened as he saw this.

'I won't make it in time.'
