Chapter 20: Golden Throne
Two days later.
Abium sat on the bed in the same meditation posture and suddenly opened his eyes.
"Status!" He muttered solemnly and soon saw a bluish panel.
He then read the status, noticed a slight increase in his spirit power, and smiled.
"2.5 Points. Not bad."
After he came from the hunt, he grilled the duck that he captured earlier, ate it to his fullest, and stored the rest in his space ring. After that, he returned to the guest room and decided to increase his spirit power.
He soon dismissed the blue screen by waving his hand and shifted his attention towards the front.
At that moment, Azolla also stared at him with a smile on her face.
"You are quite a diligent character." She said with a chuckle and stood up from the wooden chair.
Then, she took out the spellbook from the table and passed it to him.
"This spellbook has 1405 spell models, including 85 Second-Tier spell models. It will be enough for you to reach up to peak Second-Tier Mage." She paused for a moment, waved her illusionary hand, and caught another book that appeared out of thin air.
She then gave the book to Abium and added.
"It's the Mana Cultivation manual. As long as you read the manual, you can create the 'Mana Imprint' in your body without much difficulty. Do you need anything else? We won't have much time once we activate the Throne."
Meanwhile, Abium thought for a moment and nodded.
"I want to learn the Ancient Elven Language. Can you help me with that?"
His question surprised Azolla.
She then pondered for a moment and nodded.
"It's not a hard thing to learn the Ancient Elven Language. Wait, I'll create a translation book for you. You can read and write the Common Easica Language, right?" She asked.
"Yes. I learned how to read and write from my friends." Abium responded with a nod.
"Excellent."
Azolla smiled and moved towards the table once again.
Then, she picked up an empty notebook from the cupboard, picked up the quill, and started writing.
But unlike before, she moved her hand like a machine and wrote the translation book at a fast speed!
She completed writing the book five hours later, closed it, and passed it to Abium.
"Anything else?" She asked while looking at the brightened blue sky through the opened glass window.
Meanwhile, Abium shook his head and spoke.
"That's it. So, what do I have to activate the Throne?"
"All you have to do is enter the Throne Hall, resist the Evil God's temptation, and move to the Golden Throne. Once you reach there, remove the skeleton from the Throne and sit on it." Azolla suddenly paused as she recalled something and then added.
"Take your sword with you. Once you sit on the Throne, use your sword, make a small wound on your hand and let a few drops of the blood fall on the Throne. Then, I'll take care of the rest from the Core Room."
'Oh? I hope nothing goes wrong.' He muttered inwardly and nodded.
The next instant, his vision turned blurry suddenly, and soon he found himself standing in front of the Throne Hall's entrance door.
'I'm not feeling dizzy at all. It must be due to the increased spirit power.' He nodded inwardly, arrived closer towards the metallic door, and pushed it open with both hands.
A second later, a familiar grand hall appeared before his eyes.
But unlike before, he didn't look at the sealed Evil God, stepped on the carpeted floor, and started walking towards the Golden Throne.
Although he saw many skeletons and even some gold ornaments along the way, he didn't dare to take any of them.
In truth, he started to hear a familiar whisper in his ears as he walked closer towards the Golden Throne.
Thankfully, he managed to block the whisper using his spirit power completely and even resisted the strange foreign power by himself!
Once he arrived closer towards the center of the Throne Hall, he raised his head and looked at the surroundings.
A reddish rug ran from the Throne down the center and loops back from both left and right while guidon banners with golden crowns dangle gently from the walls.
Some have lit and illuminated the wall paintings of powerful creatures below them between each flag.
Broad, washed glass windows concealed by draperies colored the same color as the banners. The screens have been decorated with ornamented borders and intricate embroidery.
He was stunned by the beauty.
He stood there in a daze for a moment, stepped forward, and moved closer towards the Golden Throne.
Soon, he arrived near the dais, walked on it, and appeared next to the Throne. After that, he extended his hand, gripped the particular skeleton's hand bone, and picked it up without much difficulty.
Then, he threw the skeleton towards his right side and shifted his attention towards the Throne.
He took a deep breath, turned around, and sat on it.
A strange eerie silence appeared in the hall, causing his heart to beat faster.
'I shouldn't delay any longer.' He touched his space ring, took out the long sword, and made a sharp cut on his right palm.
Then, he moved his palm towards the right side of Throne's arm and let the blood droplets fall.
Rumble!
A sudden tremor appeared all over the great hall.
'It already startled?' He furrowed his eyebrows and tried to get up.
But he found his body stuck to the Throne.
'What happened?' He felt that a strange invisible power appeared from the Throne and bound him to it.
Before he could think, mysterious letters emerged from the Throne, crawled towards his hands, legs, and even shoulders, and soon entered his body!
He soon noticed that another invisible power began to scan him from inside and got anxious inside.
While he was in anxiety, the strange invisible power started sucking his strength and even drained his spirit power. He felt weakened and fatigued all of a sudden.
'What is happening?' A worried look appeared on his face.
Abium tried to move his finger a little, but it was futile.
Two seconds later, he felt dizziness appeared slowly, followed by a sharp pain in his head.
'Sh*t! I feel like my head is about to explode.' His eyes turned watery as he cursed inside and soon shifted his gaze towards his right hand.
At that moment, he noticed that his blood droplets were moving like some spider net and almost covered the Throne in reddish color.
Just when he thought it was the end for him, he noticed that the wound on his right palm started to heal at an unimaginable speed and soon returned to its normal state.
The next instant, the rumbling sound came from all directions as the throne hall shook violently and caused the glasses and the old furniture to fall continuously.
Slowly, the Throne rose from the dais and soon hovered one meter above the carpeted floor.
Meanwhile, the enormous crystal that sealed the Evil God's Avatar and six Elven Mages also rose from the other side of the grand hall and flew towards his direction.
It moved slowly towards the Golden Throne.
A strange fear gripped Abium's heart as he raised his head subconsciously and looked at the twelve-eyed creature!
His palms went sweaty, and the adrenaline coursing through his system shut down his ability to think slowly.
The Throne began to elevate off higher once again and moved closer towards the crystal!
He noticed there was only a 10-meter away from that crystal and the Golden Throne.
"Sh*t! Azolla! The Throne will collide-"
Before he could even finish his sentence, the temperature inside the throne hall dropped suddenly, followed by a crack in the space.
Then, the blueish spatial crack enlarged and formed into a portal-like structure.
The portal's size started to grow bigger and looked like a massive wormhole at the end.
The next instant, the crystal moved along with the monstrous being and six elven mages and soon got sucked into the portal.
Abium watched the crystal moving into the empty void with a pale face and heaved a heavy sigh.
After that, the portal remained there for a few seconds, shrunk into a small size, and slowly vanished.
Abium stared at the place for a few seconds without even breathing and smiled forcefully.
At that moment, the Golden Throne moved again.
But unlike before, the Throne moved backward and soon descended to its original position.
A relaxed expression appeared on Abium's face as the Golden Throne landed on the dais and dismissed the invisible power from his body.
He also noticed that he could move his hand and body normally, breathed a sigh of relief, and wiped the cold sweat on his forehead.
"Is it over?" He looked up at the ceiling and asked loudly.
A second later, Azolla's voice echoed in his head.
'Yes, kid. You can walk out of the Throne now. We've one more job to do before detonating the Magic Tower.'
'Got it.' Abium nodded his head, stood up from the Golden Throne, stepped down from the dais, and walked towards the Throne Hall's exit with hurried footsteps.
He soon entered the hallway, disappeared from the Palace, and reappeared in the Star Tower's guest room.
