Zafir sighed deeply once he was in his room. It was a mixture of relief, sadness, and a deep painful heartache.
He was so relieved that Stella misunderstood him. He couldn't believe that he confessed his feelings to her out of nowhere.
But because of Stella's lack of exposure to men and romance, she misunderstood his words and thought he was only pledging himself as her knight. She didn't understand that he was saying that as a man. That what his words were supposed to mean was that he wanted to marry her and be with her his whole life.
Zafir had confessed and proposed at the same time. If it was another noble lady, she would have understood that. He was truly relieved that Stella did not understand what he meant. If she did, it scared him how she would react. She would probably be disgusted and hate him for harboring such feelings for her.
