Alina never thought that a day would come when the same person who decreed her public execution would be asking for her hand in marriage. It was absurd. But, it was happening.
While dancing, Alina noticed that Stella was leaving the Grand Hall. She wanted to follow her quickly so she could at least have a proper chat with her. But she had to dance with three more people until she was finally able to escape outside.
She searched for Stella in the nearby garden but could not spot her.
"Lady Alina, it's not safe for a lady to wander alone at night," a familiar voice said. She froze recognizing that it was Hendrick.
'Did he follow me or was it a coincidence?'
"Thank you for reminding me, Marquess Hendrick. I just thought that some fresh air would be nice after all that dancing," she faked a smile.
"I see. I shall accompany you then," Hendrick beamed.
