Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: A Genuine Smile

Rose's POV:

After strengthening my resolve, and reestablishing my balance, I also tried walking while only using one hand to hold the crib and using the other hand as an anchor to find my balance. Through this, I'll eventually get the hang of it.

I've been doing just this for the whole morning and before I knew it, Lunch time arrived. I quickly fixed my bed. And as I was resting in the bed, the knock on the door came and Mira entered holding my food for Lunch.

I greeted her as always, "Miii!" And she smiled at me.

She put me in a sitting position and fed me slowly while chatting about mundane things like how the rose flowers bloomed beautifully today and how the castle gates were repainted to fit the season.

On my last bite, some Puree fell from my lips and into my hands.

Crap! She will discover the scratch in my hand!

I tried to hide my hands but she stopped my action and admonished me.

"Princess, we should first wipe it off because it will become dirty." - when she finished wiping the back of my hand she opened the palm of my hand. My grip force can't compare so she easily opened it and she was almost shocked to death by the scratches!

"Princess! What happened to you! Sarah! Lucia! Nora! Prepare the medicine for wounds!"

After hearing the call, the maids came scrambling inside.

"Is the princess hurt?!" - they simultaneously asked.

"She had scratches on her palm! Pass the medicine here!" - she first disinfected her hands and applied medicine.

I winced and her actions became even more gentle.

"My princess, you should take more care of your body, okay? Me and the girls as well as your mother in heaven are all gonna get worried." - she said in a gentle tone while caressing my bandaged hand.

I thought about my recklessness and recognized my wrong.

I forgot that in this life, I have more people who cares for me. I decided to never be reckless with my life and my decisions again. The thought of their care and love for me put a genuine smile on my face.
