Chapter 14 - Externia adventures (The rebellion)

The sky was pitch black above the capital of the great kingdom of Forus, at this time of day, no-one was outside other than the city guards. The city seemed so peaceful; you could hear the quiet whispers of the wind, and the chirping of the crickets, but if you delved deeper down, below the surface level, below the sewers, and inside a deep underground cave, laid a rebellion.

"We must strike now! The king is currently focused on the war on Dragons, it is a perfect time to strike!" One of the leaders shouted.

"No! We mustn't strike now, as even if we win, the king can just capture us and end our rebellion! We must find a more peaceful solution and end this diplomatically!" Said another leader.

Henry sighed, he was the one to start the rebellion, and it wasn't meant to grow this big. So, now Henry must watch as something he had worked so hard to make, be destroyed by two opposing ideologies that he had no control over. Still, if he had to choose one, he would choose the diplomatic option, as when starting this rebellion, he had no plans to cause bloodshed.

The thing was, that once Henry voiced his favored option, the violent idealists felt betrayed and decided to force Henry to agree with them, not by force, but by Henrys own choice. That night, the leader of the violent idealists and his followers marched too different towns, burning them down, killing its inhabitants, and moving on.

These acts caused great fear in the upper-class men who thought they would be next and decided to leave with all the town guards and their possessions. This left the towns unguarded to the all-consuming fire that was the violent idealists.

After witnessing what he had indirectly done, Henry stepped down from leadership and left the rebellion all together, as he had failed his mission and there was no turning back now. In the days following the "Scorching flame," the king felt threatened, and sent his remaining soldiers to search for the rebellion's members.

Still, the following events got worse and worse. A neighboring country decided this was a perfect time to declare war on Forus. Now that the king's army was split into three separate wars, it left the king open for assassination, which did happen.

Seeing their chance, the rebellion declared independence and took ¼ of the country for itself, and now that Forus was having in fighting, plus being sandwiched by two countries it was at war with, it broke into pieces, and surrounding countries took all the land they could.

The following decades improved as the war on dragons was finally won, an age of peace fell upon the land, many inventions were made, and happiness was at an all-time high, but even eternal diamonds become brittle over time, and what broke the fragile peace this time was the demons.

Unlike the dragons, no matter how many demons the humans kill, they would come back with greater forces. This was not a battle humans could win, so they prayed upon the gods to give them a weapon to destroy the demons, and what they were granted were blessings. Some blessings could shoot a lighting spear out of your figures, while others created winds that could knock over giants, but what these blessings all had in common, was the fact they were hard to learn and could destroy demons quickly.

Uhsa, unlike the rest of the world, seemed more attuned at casting blessings, making them more powerful than the rest of the world. Jealousy befell the other countries, and eventually one-man bent blessings into becoming easier to learn, and in some cases stronger than the original blessing, these modified blessings were called sorceries and spells.

Seeing their rule be threatened by the new magic, Uhsa declared learning spells was heresy, and went against what the gods wanted. The rest of the world followed their words, as they didn't want to upset their strongest allies. Still, the other countries went behind their backs to breed the most powerful warriors ever, warriors that could fight dragons, warriors that could do magic, warriors that were perfect... almost perfect.
