The decision to bring Colm with me has nothing to do with me but his determination. I don't know if this is a good idea but Beau and Alanis didn't seem to object to it as much as I thought they would.
There is no plan.
I don't want to put anyone in danger that is why I wanted to take Griff alone on this. I didn't want to involve anyone else--especially Colin's twin brother. The decision to do this is all mine and mine alone.
I close the backpack and put it over my shoulders just as Colm walks into my room.
"Are you ready?" he asks.
I nod as I put on my shoes and grab the car keys from the table by the side of my bed. I walk out of the room with Colm close behind me. The hallway is empty and quiet. I can hear the quiet hum in the air from the air conditioning unit. It feels good on a hot day like this one.
