As he climbed over the broken gate debris, he was now in the city at night.
'I really need to find a better place to stay... actually, why do the goblins live outside the city? Is it because there are few trees?'
He pondered as he entered a nearby building to sleep in.
The building was a small two-story house. The inside looked relatively normal.
"AH!"
Except for the family of statues sitting cuddled together at the dining table in the dark, illuminated by the moonlight coming in through the window.
'That startled me. Seeing that makes me want to cry,' he thought as he thought about his family back home.
'I wonder how they are doing... well, it doesn't matter now. I need to get some sleep.'
He went upstairs and into the bedroom with the bigger bed.
"There, now I can sleep properly." Before sleeping, he fixed the dusty blanket and blocked the door in case any goblins came into the house.
'I wish I could drink my staff, but doing so is like trying to eat rubber. The durability of it is very high, so I would at least need a Magic Rank weapon if I want to cut it.
...
..
.
The next morning, he woke up and started a fire in the house's stone stove in the kitchen.
'Thank God they had flint and wood in here. Otherwise, I would need to get it myself.'
He cooked the goblin meat he collected the other day and covered his nose.
"Holy fuck, this smells awful," he said as he tried not to throw up.
'I think it will somehow taste worse after cooking it.'
After choking down the cooked goblin meat, he left the house more pale than usual to look for more goblins.
'I wish Dave was here. He was an outdoors person. If he was here, he would already have a proper camp, fire, clean water, and food. Looking back on it, I should have paid more attention to stuff he said.'
He walked quietly along the edge of the city wall, hoping to find an easy target.
'Since only weak goblins are usually far away from their nest, I should be able to find some easy targets.'
He spent the whole day searching but didn't find any.
'Why is my luck so shit?' "Sigh. Well, it could be worse, I suppose," he said as he entered the house.
"Are they gone?" To his concern, the statue family was missing.
Then a sound could be heard from upstairs. *Creek* *Thud* *Thud* *Creek*
It sounded like a group of heavy people walking around.
Upon noticing this, he quickly ran away and climbed out the gate.
'Nope, nope, nope, nope. I am out of here,' he thought as he slid down the broken stones that blocked the gate.
*huff* *huff* He stopped to catch his breath just outside the gate on a large tree that he climbed up.
'fuck that noise.' *huff* 'I'm not scared of ghosts...' *huff* 'But that was all kinds of hell no.' *huff* 'It's a good thing I know how to climb trees.' After a few minutes sitting there, he managed to calm his racing heart and catch his breath.
'Jesus, a kid's stamina is ass.'
'I think I know why the goblins don't live there...'
'I really need... to find a better place to stay... fuck I should have put some flint in my bag.'
He then pulled some rope out of his bag and tied himself to the tree so he wouldn't fall off when he slept.
'They're nice and secure... although a bit uncomfortable.'
That night he slept terribly, but he did have a dream from the past.
[Sitting around a campfire were four people, each holding a different weapon.
There was the leader, a strong and lean man who had long gold hair and stern ruby eyes with a somber smile on his face. He held a Crimson Spear with red stains on it and wore barbarian armor, showing off his muscles. This is their leader, Berserker-King.
To his left was a beautiful woman reading a book, who had short red spiky hair and eyes of a murky blue. She was wearing a pair of elegant-looking sky-colored boots that had red stains on them, and she was dressed as a ranger with a mystic bow next to her. Her name is Book's_Are_Life.
Sat next to her, giggling, was a cute girl with long blue hair and purple eyes. She had large gray gauntlets with red stains on them and was dressed in heavy armor, the tank of the group. Her helmet was on the ground next to her. Her name is Lover_Of_Spooks.
The last one was a man dressed as a mage with tired gray eyes and long green hair tied up in a ponytail. His weapon was a staff made of water with red floating in it. His name is Lonely_Sheep.
[Berserker-King] "It seems that in the face of death, all living things will struggle to live, even if the only way to live is to take from another."
[Lonely_Sheep] "What does being so philosophical have to do with the quest?"
[Lover_Of_Spooks] "What a strange thing to say. Is that sentence from a movie?"
[Berserker-King] "..."
[Book's_Are_Life] "Sigh, are you two dumb? He's talking about how we've been PKing lots of players because he wants to get to as high a rank as possible before he needs to go into surgery this weekend."
[Lonely_Sheep] "Ah, right, sorry, I forgot."
[Lover_Of_Spooks] "I'm sorry too," she says sadly.
[Berserker-King] "It's fine. I'm just getting anxious and if it fails..."
[Lonely_Sheep] "Don't worry, out of all of us, you have the best luck. I know it will work out."
[Lover_Of_Spooks] "Yeah, remember when you found 5 Medium-Grade Magic stones in a row? Your luck is super good. I'm so confident in you making it, let's meet up next week IRL," she said with a wink.
[Book's_Are_Life] "Gasp, Lover_Of_Spooks, you're being-"
She was about to tell Lover_Of_Spooks off but was interrupted by laughter.
[Berserker-King] "Ha Ha Ha. Yeah, let's do that. I would be happy to. Do you think should go out on New Year's? Because I would need to be in the hospital for a while, and next week seems too soon. So let's meet up on New Year's in a few months."
All of them, now that the mood was lifted, laughed and joked and killed more players.
Later, before he logged off, Berserker-King said one more thing to Lonely_Sheep as they hadn't logged off yet.
[Berserker-King] "I really am thankful I have you guys in my life."
[Lonely_Sheep] "Why are you saying that to me alone? Shouldn't you have said it when your crush was around?"
[Berserker-King] "Ha, are you trying to make me raise a death flag? Anyway, I've gotta go... Also, if I don't make it, could you not tell her how I feel about her."
[Lonely_Sheep] "Don't worry, I'll take it to my grave. I don't want to get involved with that kind of cringe."]
When the sun came up, he woke up with tears streaming down his face.
'Ah, so that's who said it.' He thought as he wiped his eyes.
'To think I miss them that much. I'm usually not the emotional type.'
