Dimitri ducked and the lioness swivelled on the dirt in a pile of fangs, talons, and dust, hitting its head on a tree. Dimitri only had his blade, so he moved over to the wagon and snatched his servant's spear. Dazed from the head pain, the lioness attempted to shake off unconsciousness. A part of the skin and fur above the eyebrow had been ripped off by the harsh bark of the tree. Blood trickled beneath its blinking eye. Dimitri raised his weapon to gore it, but he was distracted by the other lion's approach from behind. He turned. The lion was already in the air. He barely got the spear pointed up as the creature seemed to crash down upon him. The spear ran right through its jaw and up through its head, impaling the tremendous beast's cranium and slaying it immediately. The plank shattered under the weight of the giant feline, and Dimitri was thrown to the ground. He got up as quickly as he had fallen because he realized that the horror of the battle was yet to come.
