The darkness that lingered in the air made Blanca shiver.
"Appearances can be deceiving," she told the others.
"Yes, Anda is standing up there. But how can he control all those supernatural things anyway? She is a witch, not a vampire or a demon. And not as powerful. She doesn't have this kind of dark magic. He couldn't have created the Fever. Someone was behind her, I supposed?" Liam asked.
Dimitri stared across the field where Anda stood on the platform, directing his army. "Look at her eyes. She was in trance."
"Damian's doing?"
"No, Damian wouldn't do such a thing."
Anda's eyes were shimmering oddly, like they weren't reflecting the sun's natural light. There was some other light—some other magic—inside of her.
"She's infected too," Dimitri said. "I can see it in her eyes. Someone or something is speaking through her."
"Possession?" Blanca wondered. "Her powers come from light magic. Can a god possess someone?"
