Jacob's screams died down. His voice gave out and he couldn't shout anymore. His eyes dried out tears wouldn't pour out anymore. His entire body quaked with sobs, yet there were no sounds and no tears.
Movements around him were at every corner, but he couldn't be bothered to know what the police were up to. Nicole's limp body went stiff against his arms and chest, and he plastered feathery kisses all over her face.
Before she gave out, Jacob was sure she was about to profess her love for him. He didn't doubt she genuinely loved him in her own twisted way. Jacob hadn't been able to reciprocate her love, and he regretted every inch.
Now she was dead. He need to hear her confession to know she loved him. She had run into the open fire and had taken not just one, but two bullets for him. She had given her life for him. Jacob knew no words could have amounted to her sacrifice. She had confessed to him with her actions.
