Ryker stood on the front porch and took a deep breath. He marched up to the front door and knocked. He heard a distant sound that sounded vaguely like someone was bounding down the stairs from within the house. He took one step back and waited. The door clicked and swung open.
Kenzie stood before him barefooted in a pair of jeans and a tank top. She had an apron tied around her waist and her hair was twisted in a messy bun. Her eyes widened when she took him in and he heard her breathing spiked. She panicked and slammed the door in his face. Ryker was taken aback by her reaction. He raised his hand to knock again, but the door opened before his hand came down on it. Kenzie still wore the panicked expression.
