Jacob Mackay
Since Jace's burial which she hadn't even been in attendance, he had not seen Nicole and he never bothered to check on her. A lot of things preoccupied his mind and they took his thoughts away from her. But now, now he knew the rules of the game Jameson played, and now that Jameson knew everything, Nicole was in danger. He still couldn't believe he had neglected something that was so obvious.
"Fuck." Jacob cursed under his breath.
He took out his cigarettes and lighter from his breast pocket and lit it, one after the other. Each puff he took, cleared his head a little. As the smoke filled his lungs, his arteries opened, and blood flowed properly into his brain. Finally he could think. He wasn't responsible for Nicole but he felt responsible for her and the thing about misguided loyalty is that it weighs away at your soul slowly; the same way a leach would.
