Ryker tripped over his feet several times as he scrambled from the table towards Brin as fast as he could. He was shell-shocked by the bomb Grant had just dropped on them. He had a child. He, Playboy Ryker Scott, had a child. He did not know if this child was male or female. It's been two years since his scandal with Kenzie, and this was the first time he was hearing about having a kid. He couldn't wrap his head around it. To cap it all, he couldn't imagine the depth of Brin's shock even though he was lost himself.
Brin's back was to him as he ran after her. He couldn't believe the speed with which the woman moved. He called out her name, willing her to stop, but she just kept going. Ryker persisted and finally gained some distance. Eventually, he caught up to her. Ryker grabbed Brin's wrist and pulled her to a stop. He turned her around to face him. The look on Brin's face ended him.
