Chapter 39 - Elden City

{Huh? What's wrong with me?} wondered Arya, staring down at his trembling hands. His vision was blurry and he could feel streaks of warm liquid roll down his cheeks. It felt as if he were underwater, everything seemed... muffled, faraway, like if he closed his eyes he would be back at Bruno's work desk, drowning alone once again.

"Arya? Are you okay?" asked Gray, grabbing Arya by the shoulder.

"Y-yeah, I-I just got a little startled by its screams. I'm fine," replied Arya, quickly wiping the tears off his face.

"I'm sorry about that, I was just so scared," he said with a sort of forced giggle, apologizing to the mage he had punched in the face. The mage reluctantly accepted his apology before mumbling something to his comrade and walking back to the rear of the group.

"What was that about?" whispered Armin as Arya passed by him.
