"What happened to him?" Iona asks and immediately regrets it. May's face falls as she goes quiet. Iona tries to take another sip of coffee only to realize that her mug is empty. She puts it back on the table, trying not to look at her aunt.
"They said it was an accident but I couldn't," May starts again. "I still can't believe that. He had been working on an arson case. It had something to do with one of the Esper supremacy groups setting fire to a building full of Esper government informants, and consultants. He had gone undercover in an attempt to smoke them out. It wasn't meant to be him. He was only meant to be helping with the arson side of things but like I said all he wanted to do was to help people. So when they asked if he was willing to pose as an arsonist willing to join the group in an attempt to catch them he didn't hesitate.
