Ayo was up and ready to leave the hospital. He had packed his medical bills and all his belongings. Even after everything, he still cried a lot throughout the past few days. He cried till his eyes were sore and he reached a point where he couldn't cry anymore.
He had his mind set on changing Chopper's life for good, and he also decided to live a happy and joy-filled life to the very end. He thought that was what his family wanted.
He left the hospital and was at the entrance of the hospital. Just when he was about to go towards his car, he saw his father-in-law and mother-in-law. That's when it dawned on him. At that moment, it was like reality kicked him in the face. At that moment, everything he had experienced with Chopper went blank. He focused on the accident, and as he saw the look on their faces, his spirit broke.
It was clear that they had been crying for days, his father-in-law had a bulging eye filled with tears. His mother-in-law ran towards him, hitting him with weak-hearted punches, "How could you let this happen, Ayo? Why? Ayobami why?Ayo was speechless and had no response when his father-in-law grabbed his hand and said,
"I'm glad to see that you're okay, Ayo. It wasn't your fault. Don't beat yourself up about it. We will just go and see them. Sorry we came late and all the flight took days, but we will check up on you later. " Ayo could see how his father-in-law's hands kept shaking as he talked. It was a very heartbreaking moment for all of them, but he just noticed how beat down they looked from the whole incident and their response showed they did not want to see him for now, so he had no choice but to respect their wish and wait till they checked up on him. They all went their separate ways.
Ayo had carried what was left from the fire, and he went to a new place to stay. He met up with the housekeeper and paid for the rent. It was a two-room apartment. He dropped his bags and entered the house. He barely noticed how colourful the room was because his mind was still occupied.
The first thing he did was to shower. As he showered, he saw the black suit he brought home. He kept it next to the bathroom instead of the wardrobe. He realized he had to wear it very soon that day, and the day was so close by.
Meanwhile, A cop steps into the hospital, "Chopper, Agent Chopper!" He was yelling at the top of his lungs. Mr. Parker, the police man, was one of Chopper's close friends who was not a patient or a staff member of the hospital, and he was the most playful friend she had. He knew Chopper was a kid that hardly have friends her age, so anytime he was free, he came to play with her.
In less than a minute, Chopper runs towards him with a big hug as she embraces him.
"Yes, yes Agent Parker, any job for me today?" Chopper said as she pulled his glasses from his face.
"How many times do I have to tell you kid that only the boss gets to wear colored glasses, take this lame one?" Parker handed Chopper a plain pair of glasses from his pocket, clearly less cool than his own. Chopper had no choice but to put them on, "whatever boss, what's our mission today?"We got a new lead on the evil mad scientist, Sir Dr. Icent."
What did you say, boss? You got a lead on the heartless one? Fill me in on it"
Dr Icent had just finished with a patient and He was with his Book scheet and records for the day. He noticed Chopper and Parker spying on him, but he kept on pretending like he was unaware of them. He did allow it because it was one of the few times Chopper had to play, even if they always picked on him.
"Chopper, you see that book? We need to get it from him to save the endangered whales in Africa.
"Boss, I think we don't have whales in Africa. Where do you come up with these kinds of ideas, like whales? You should have said "tigers" or something more believable.
" Hey,are you questioning your boss? You want to get fired? Alright, look, he dropped it at the counter. It's time to go for it. You pick it up and I'll back you up"
"You're the best boss. I'm going in." Chopper moved in and picked up the book; after a little roll and jump, she had to unleash some moves as an agent, and they both ran away, unaware that Dr Icent was in on the game; he had purposefully left the book there so that they would fall for his trap.
Chopper and Parker hid themselves in the cleaners' closet, but Dr Icent had to play the part to fool them: "Chopper! I know you did this. Where did you carry my book to? You're in big trouble today because I'm not in a good mood today. "He went straight to the cleaners' closet. Turns out Dr. Icent was so good at finding Chopper because of his years of training. It was now so easy to find her and Parker. The door at the cleaner's closet opened slowly, making a squicking sound, but when the door fully opened There was nobody at the door, it was like it opened on its own. Chopper and Parker were terrified to the core.
"Hey kid, go check what's up with the door."
"Why me, boss? You can check it, you're a cop. "
Don't worry, I promise I'll back you up and don't question your boss.
"I'm going to quit one day."Chopper said as she mustered the courage to walk towards the door. Before Agent Parker was able to shout his heart out, boom! As Chopper screamed, Dr Icent caught her hands, and Parker took advantage of the opportunity to flee and bail on Chopper."
I'll be waiting for you at the reception, and I told you this is the worst place to hide."
"It was your idea, boss!"
Now it was only Chopper and Dr Icent in the closet.
"Chopper, now you know what happens if you get caught in less than an hour," Dr Icent said with a smile on his face.
Later on that day, Dr. Icent, Chopper, and Parker all sat down at the reception eating Dr. Icent's not so famous vegetable soup. Turns out, anytime they get caught, they end up eating his not so delicious vegetable soup.
"blaaaa! blaaaa! blaaaa! It tastes like grass, like who eats vegetables without meat. It's just vegetables and water, and you have the mind to call this a decent meal. " Chopper said all this and took another spoon.
"Chopper, you know I make this food especially for you. It's good for your body and, besides, my wife loves it."
"Dr.Icent, your wife really loves you. She's hiding the truth from you just to save your feelings from getting hurt," Parker said and they all laughed.
"Chopper, who was the patient you were talking to the other day?"
He was just some random person, so I cheered him up. He said he wanted to be my friend, but you know, I only let cool people like you and maybe Dr. Icent be my friends.
"So you got your touch back, you made someone happy like in the old days," Parker says as he walks away without finishing his soup.
boss, I hope you actually back me up next time. They all laughed at Chopper's comment on her boss.
"So Chopper, will you let him be your friend?" Dr Icent asked with a curious look on his face,
"Maybe I'm not sure. I have a lot of friends and I forgot to tell you, he keeps on saying he wants to help me out."
"That sounds intriguing, and I'll keep an eye out for him."
