"Mum, what is going on?" Emily asked. She wanted nothing more at that moment than to know the truth.
"Are you okay?" Brenda asked again. The room was not bright, so she could not see Emily clearly. She just wondered if there were any injuries on Emily.
"I am tied up, but other than that, I am okay," Emily replied. Hearing that response, Brenda sighed in relief.
"Mom, did Dad and the others also survive?" Emily asked. She wanted nothing more than to hear that everyone was fine. Hearing her question, Brenda paused for a few seconds.
"Only you and Jerry survived the tragedy back then," Brenda answered.
"What do you mean, me and Jerry? Are you not also fine? Even if their condition is not good, you should not keep it from me," Emily said.
"Your mum died," Brenda answered.
