Eric was surprised by Emily's question but after thinking about it, it made sense for her to find out about Jin . After all, her butler was a secret agent.
"I was worried about you," Eric said. At first he had asked Jin to investigate Emily because he wanted to understand her and come up with a plan to destroy Steam. Later he forgot about the instruction. But after his conversation with Harrison he become worried.
It's was obvious that someone was setting Emily up for what so ever reason. Also there was someone clearing up her mess.
Eric did not know if she knew this person and his motive towards her. So he asked Jin to investigate more. He was just worried that he would not be able to protect her.
Hearing Eric's response Emily could not help but laugh. She felt that she was indeed foolish to have believe Eric Brown in the first place.
