"why?" After a while Lily could not stop herself from asking this question. She was a beautiful and intelligent woman. Why would Eric reject her without giving her a chance.
"My heart belongs to someone else, my parents would not choose my wife, or who I would be with," Eric answered. He was never one to play around with words so he ensured that his answers were as direct as possible leaving no room for a misunderstanding.
"Emily White?" Lily asked. She wanted to know who stole the man that should have belonged to her.
"Yes," Eric did not bother denying this fact. He thought that by telling her this she would move on.
Lily got up from her seat and hurried outside the office. Although she really wanted to ask Eric what Emily had that she lack, she did not dare remain sitted as she could feel herself lossing control of her emotions.
