When Eric did not hear any response after a few seconds of speaking he threw caution in the air and pushed the door open.
He did not care if Emily would be offended by him entering her room without her permission.
He was more concerned about finding out if she was okay or not. when he woke up that morning he had been worried that Emily might give him the cold shoulder because of how they had parted the previous night.
He took his bath and got dressed before he ordered breakfast although he guessed that Emily would not want to see him, he still acted stubbornly and knocked on her door.
When there was no response, he concluded that she might be in the bathroom so he left.
