Wilfred did not notice the three ladies, he was there to meet a client, so he arrived first. When the waiter came over he only ordered a drink as he could not start eating before the client arrived.
He could feel the look of people on him but he did not mind. His drink arrived shortly after, Wilfred picked up his phone to call Emily. He had been out of the country for a week, and only to return to hear that she was not fine.
Wilfred would have loved to go and see her the minute he arrived but it was already late, moreover, he could not conceal the meeting with the client as it had already been moved twice.
Thinking of this he decided to call Emily and check on her. This way he would be able to visit her the following day.
Emily picked up after a few rings, "willfred," Emily's tone was flat.
