Emily was busy after returning; since she took over the government project, she had to read the daily report sent by her new assistant. Kevin was too busy to take over the project.
Moreover, she still needed to balance accounts in a way to help Steam successfully merge with Rostar. So after ending the call with Samuel, she immediately got busy; it was not until midnight that she was done.
She stretched and looked at her phone to see a message from Samuel. "that was fast," She thought as she opened the video.
It was bad enough that she was in the garden and a blind spot for the camera, but when watching the video, she had seen the man, but his face was hidden away from the camera. Emily sighed.
Just as she was about to close it and send it to Jude, Samuel sent another message. She opened the record and saw a video of Annabel and a woman that should be her mother entering the record room.
("the video disappeared a few minutes after their visit. Maybe you should investigate). This message came with the second video. Although she did not have any personal dealings with the vice president but since she was someone the president supported, the vice president's family may have a reason to hurt her.
(Thank you). She sent a message to Samuel; she did not expect him to be so fast. After returning the message, she sent the video to Jude and Samuel's opinion.
A few minutes after, Jude called her, and although it was already midnight, she knew Jude would call back.
"I will get to the bottom of this, but for the time being, I will send you two more bodyguards. Jude's voice sounded as composed as ever, but Emily could tell he was worried.
"Would Mr Smith really play this dirty?" Emily asked. She felt that Annabel was reasonable. There was no need to get violent.
"I don't know, but Boss would not have expected the Browns to act the way they did five years ago over a project," Jude replied. Back then, Mr Williams knew that ABM would not play fair; he did not just expect them to go far as the killing.
Emily felt chill when she thought back to the night five years ago. "Do you think the Browns are involved? I mean, they are on the vice president's side," Emily asked.
"Maybe, the Browns are full of shit; more so, I heard that the Browns and the Smiths have a marriage alliance," Jude said. When Emily heard this, her body ran cold. She felt bitter in her heart.
Although, after meeting Eric and Annabel at the resort and during the bid, she felt their relationship was not so simple, she was not sure.
Hearing Jude confirm her thought made her sad and angry at herself. Why did her heart choose the enemy?
"Alright, I will wait for your results. Also, Eric has been paying so much attention to me; I feel he has something off his sleeve," Emily complained.
"You should expect that' Steam has become a threat to ABM; he would not let you easily join the association. I have done everything at the back end; you have to ensure that he does not steal anything from you," Jude warned. Emily becomes anxious. Indeed, she had taken things too lightly.

Samuel felt happy when he received a message from Emily; he wanted to call her but seeing the time, he thought she might want to go to bed.

Samuel smiled when he saw her reply, he had never been in a real relationship before, and this was his first time chasing a girl. Usually, those ladies wanted to attract his attention.

After looking through his phone, he thought of calling his sisters and asking their opinions since they were still ladies, but he changed his mind. "no, I can't let them get on my business," he decides to go and sleep. Sky group would be making their presentation immediately after Steam. So he needed to wake up on time to cross-check the document before the time for presentation.
The next day, Samuel intentionally got to the venue on time and waited for Emily; as soon as her car arrived, he went over to welcome her.
Emily did not think much of it; she felt it was just a coincidence that they arrived at the same time. She could never have guessed that Samuel had been waiting for her for ten minutes.
"Thank you for your help," Emily was grateful; she knew that Jude was having problems investigating the situation as he did not want to make a move himself. As Mr Robert, he had little power, but if he showed up as Jude, he might end up exposing Emily's identity.
" you are being too polite; we are friends, after all," Samuel said. Emily did not argue but smiled. The two chatted casually as they walked into the hall.
Behind them, Eric narrowed his gaze, "why are those two flaunting their relationship?" He turned to Jin, who sat beside him.
Jin scratches his head, not knowing how to answer. He was not Emily and Samuel; how should he know why they were showing off? Moreover, to him, the two had just met by coincidence outside the venue, so there was nothing wrong with their behaviour.
They were not holding hands or behaving intimate, but their smile was a bit suggestive. Eric looked at Jin, seeing that he would not reply. "How is the investigation?" he decided to change the topic. He hated seeing those two together, and only by getting to the root of the incident that night would help him make up his mind about the next move.
"Nothing yet, you know dark merit is a bit difficult to investigate, but someone restored the records last night," Jin answered.
"Who?" Eric asked. His expert had failed to restore it.
"not sure, but it seems to be the dark horse," Jin replied.
"Darkhorse? why would he appear for something so small? Could it be that the vice president is also investigating the situation?" Eric asked. The dark horse is a genius, but he only works according to mode, and he does not believe that Emily would be able to afford him, given how difficult it was to connect to him.
" I doubt it, but it will interest you to know who got rid of the records," Jin said. He loved to talk in circles sometimes.
"Who?" Eric asked.
"Mrs Smith, the records had gone missing shortly after she entered the monitor room. We have found the man, and he confesses that the vice president has asked him to delete the records of eight to nine pm that evening. We are not sure if she is related to Miss White or if there is something else she was trying to cover up, " Jin replied.
" investigate, I do not believe in coincidence, " Eric replied. Although it felt too stupid for the vice president to want to hurt Emily because her company was something the president was trying to promote, but he also knew that the vice president was a bit dumb. But then, why would he want to send her to his room when he wanted him to marry his daughter? "Find out; it might be related to me getting drugged," Eric remembered how his mother and Mrs Smith were planning to make people believe the baseless rumours about him and Annabel.
