"Hehe. I have the cutest daughter in the world~!" Emilia rubbed her cheeks against Sage's with a loving smile, feeling some pride that Sage had called her mom because despite having been alive for centuries, she hadn't yet experienced being a mother.
"So, mom... Why do... no. Has there always been vampires?" Sage looked at Emilia's flawless countenance and asked curiously, wanting to know more about this world he now belonge to. Emilia smiled as she got up and wiped the red streaks from Sage's face.
"Vampires have been around for a while. Some of the older vampires have been alive for thousands of years and they still aren't really sure when we actually appeared. Hmm, who knows? Vampires have an endless lifespan so know one actually bothered to record it since we all have perfect recall."
"I do feel that some things are easier to recall now. Then what do vampires do?" Emilia smiled at the question and then thought for a moment before responding. "Vampires just do whatever we can to stay entertained. Most vampires just compete to see who becomes more wealthy once a century."
"As for the rest of them, they either travel around a lot or are hibernating. Of course, we have to stay in motion or those pesky human hunters and those stinky dogs try to kill us." Emilia frowned when she spoke, finding the subject unworthy of her attention.
"Humans know? Well they should, or else it'd be too fantastical. And the dogs, are they by chance..." Sage trailed off when Emilia nodded and then sighed. "Werewolves have nothing better to do so they sometimes hunt normal vampires down and kill them."
"And the humans band together to hunt us down because vampires sometimes make messes of things. Of course, the Noble Vampires are too strong to be hunted normally so they formed an organization dedicated to the eradication of our species."
"Oh! Try your ring on! I had a contact make it while you were still asleep. Do you like it?" Emilia smiled as Sage examined the ring, not entirely sure of the significance of it, but seeing his new mom's enthusiasm, he took the ring and turned it this way and that, reading the engraving that said Nightrose as well as the purple gem embedded in the middle.
"It's nice..." Sage blankly stared at Emilia and the latter smacked her forehead. "I forgot to tell you, like most myths, the sun will burn a vampire to ashes should they stay beneath it for a time, but with this ring, we don't have to fear the sun."
"Are we weak to crosses, garlic, and silver?" Having been an avid fantasy fan, Sage knew some vampires were outrageously strong and fast while others were ugly and grotesque. Some didn't even have rational thought and just lived with intense bloodlust.
"Hm? Yes, no, and yes in that order. Crosses can ward us off while silver damages us. Most weapons hunters use silver and crosses to fight us. Of course we are faster and stronger than them and some of us can use magic like the witches do, but mostly for attack and defense."
"And then there's fire. It's incredibly dangerous to us and slows our healing down quite a bit. Aside from the ability to compel humans if we've tasted their blood. That's pretty much all you need to know as you entered this world as a Vampire Noble. You don't have to fear many things as you are now my daughter."
"Are you being hunted here?" Sage thought of Emilia getting hurt and felt a strange sensation of unease welling up within him. He didn't want anyone or anything to hurt her, something deep within him wanted to protect her.
"Hm? Maybe, it's been a while since I've actually confronted them. They might still be lurking around waiting for an opportunity to strike." Emilia patted Sage's head and got up and walked to the door and pushed it open.
"Are you ready to live your new life, my dearest daughter? Mommy will help you." Emilia placed the ring on Sage's finger and smiled, holding the door open for Sage. Sage got off the metal bed and walked over, wondering if he were off in the head for accepting it so easily but he shook his head.
He still considered himself a guy, but he really wanted a family, so he accepted as having a family had always been one of the things he always wished to have.
While losing his manhood wasn't ideal, he also knew beggars couldn't be choosers. He accepted Emilia as his mother, but he was still on the fence about becoming a girl, but aside from sitting down on toilets, he couldn't really name any demerits. Of course, he was a vampire, so he didn't have to use the bathroom at all.
Sage followed Emilia up the stairs and through the door and marveled at how exquisitely crafted the room he found himself in. A lavish rug and amazing painting decorated the floor and walls, with white leather couches giving the room a bright look.
The windows were open and through it he could see the sky, the blue sky with sun shining through the window. Feeling the warmth on his skin, he tensed up knowing that if not for the ring, he'd be ablaze.
"Oh, a vampire's body is colder than a human's because our blood isn't heated up by our body. We are technically dead, so most of our body functions no longer work. Eating is impossible and while drinking is okay, it isn't possible to get drunk."
"Plus, you'll never be sick again." Emilia walked to a closet hidden in the wall and pulled it open, revealing expensive looking female clothing that seemed to be Sage's size, making the latter's lips twitch slightly.
"I bought you some presents~" Emilia grabbed a shirt and jeans and handed it to Sage, waiting for the latter to change while showing no signs of leaving the room. Sage looked back at the door they had just come through and realized it was the basement.
"Oh? Are we shy? Do you want mommy to help you~?" Emilia walked over and extended her hands which resembled the claws of the devil in Sage's eyes, making him back up in fright but how could he outrun Emilia who was older and stronger than he was, much less without using his vampiric speed.
A few minutes later, Sage was dressed with a look of despair on his face. He resisted wearing panties, but Emilia was insistent that he wore proper underwear. Her exact words were "Clothes make a woman shine."
"Wear your clothes like a good girl." Emilia stroked Sage's head, ignoring the glare she received and planted a soft kiss on his forehead. Sage felt that if he still had blood, he'd have probably flushed red in embarrassment due to Emilia being an absolute beauty.
He hadn't even had a girlfriend as his previous appearance was average, so receiving the love of a beauty, even if it was motherly, was different and unexpected. Sage turned his head to the side and pretended to ignore her.
"What's this? My daughter has already entered her rebellious phase?" Emilia gave Sage a look of sorrow, but Sage only rolled his eyes at her actions. He'd be a fool to think she was actually sad because he could see a big smile on her face she tried to hide.
"Okay, I'll give you a bit of information about the Vampire World. First, if you make an enemy, kill them as soon as possible if it escalates to that level. Second, just use my name if you get in trouble, and Three, don't draw too much attention to yourself. We have been able to live peacefully because the humans who know we exist fear that we'd collapse their economies with our wealth."
"Of course, telling a few people is fine. We rarely have any vampires who wantonly kills and murders, most of them were sealed away for centuries by the Vampire Royal Family. Even if they say something, without proof, they'd be deemed crazy."
"So are most vampires rich?" Sage wondered if it was like in the movies, with vampires accumulating wealth over the centuries as they lived. Emilia nodded and then shook her head right after.
"No, all Vampire Clans have a deep foundation with hands in various industries around the world. Normal vampires mostly have money due to compelling humans or just accumulating wealth, but none come close to the four Vampire Clans."
"We normally just do our own thing, remaining in the shadows." Emilia ended her speech and looked at Sage and nearly started laughing crazily with her eyes turning a shade of crimson. Sage froze as a his body tensed up, feeling as if he were being targeted by a ferocious beast.
"We have two states, our normal selves and our feral states. Not feeding on blood will send us into a blood frenzy, with us killing madly until we consume enough blood." As she spoke, her pale skin turned sickly white and her nails turned sharp.
Her teeth changed to jagged fangs. Not just the canines, but every single tooth. Her veins started started appear and the whites of her eyes expanded as her crimson irises shrunk to points. An animalistic growl came from Emilia's throat before the changes quickly reverted until she returned to her normal beautiful self.
"Changing back and forth can be mastered over the centuries. Of course, most of your rational thought gives way to self preservation and hunting instincts. I don't recommend you going feral so stay well satiated okay?"
"Feral vampires are either tracked down and captured until they regain themselves or they are killed. It depends on the vampire in question since some Vampire Nobles look down on common vampires."
