The carriage with which Miriam had traveled in had broken down somewhere along the way. it had caused a significant delay in her arrival into the palace hence are great deductions to her marks. There were points that were kept for every princess which would at the end of the day be calculated and the princesses one by one be removed from the hunt until only one princess was left standing.
