Chapter 2 - An unexpected encounter - Part 2

I've always thought that when someone dies, an angel or demon comes for their soul to take it where it deserves to be, or whatever.

But things are not quite like that, how do I know the answer to this question you might ask? It's simple, I'm literally looking at my dead body with a hole in my head. Whether it's lucky or unlucky I got hit by a stray bullet, I don't know, probably if I had played the lottery I would have won. Think

which is bad luck.

"Interesting way to weigh. I like." - ???

"Fuck!" - @#@#(this is the MC)

And I think my day is not weird enough, a voice from beyond comes whispering in my ear. From what I see the dead are also scared.

"You're not wrong, but you're not right either." - ???

Okay, I'm dead, that's for sure and there's no denying that fact. I'm literally looking at my dying body on the floor. And as if that wasn't enough of a surprise I'm hearing someone talking in my ear, which gave me a good scare, and apparently the voice can read my mind. He can?

"Yes indeed I can." - ???

"Are you God or something?" - @#@#

"What makes you believe it's God?" - ???

"Honestly, this whole situation makes it seem like you're God. Look at me, I'm a soul that's beside my dying body as I'm talking to you, a voice that comes from beyond." - @#@#

A few seconds passed but no response. Did I say something wrong?

"Don't worry, you didn't say anything wrong." - ???

This time the voice came from behind me, turning I came across a woman.

Of all the women I've seen in my life, she is by far the most "exotic". She was tall, about 1.75cm, her face was what many would describe as symmetrical, the left side of her face was the same as the right. Her eyes were deep black as was her hair. Her clothes were like her eyes, black, it was a renaissance look with a modern twist, but that wasn't what caught the eye. Her skin is white as snow, which was a stark contrast to her all-black outfits.

"You know, staring at a lady with such intense eyes can make a bad impression." - ???

The lady replied with a slight smile.

"Are you... Are you who I think?" - ???

I asked with a dubious look, but without realizing it, the expectation in my eyes couldn't be hidden. Which the lady must have noticed.

"Indeed. But I wish you said it yourself." - ???

"Death." - @#@#

"It's a pleasure to finally meet you @#@#." - Death

At that moment I honestly didn't know what I should do. Death was in front of me, I knew my question could be answered. There is no one better who could answer that question.

But the question stuck in my throat, unable to get out. Whether it was fear or something else, I wasn't sure.

"You know @#@#, I've been watching you, since the day I came to get your grandfather." - Death

She said as she walked towards me with calm but steady steps.

"As well?" - @#@#

Stopping in front of me, she leaned her face forward, looking into my face with a piercing gaze.

"On the day I took his grandfather, before he left he asked me to stay by his grandson's side, until he would be buried." - Death

"I agreed, waiting but a few days is not a problem." - Death

"The day I came back to take him, I came across a little boy who caught my attention. There was no sadness in his eyes, only doubt and confusion." - Death

"But that's not what made him special in my eyes, no. It was his curiosity about me. I was quite intrigued by this, a child interested in death." - Death

"After that day I decided to observe her, wanting to know how far his curiosity would take him or how long he would keep it." - Death

"Believe me, I was surprised when he didn't lose it, on the contrary, it just increased. But, no matter how much he looked, no one would be able to answer his question... But apparently, he may have his answer, from the person who understands it." - Death

When the lady finished, still with that small smile on her face, she just leaned back, staying in a more relaxed posture.

When I looked into those black eyes, I realized there was expectation in them, and even, maybe hope, but I wasn't sure about the latter.

I closed my eyes for a moment, thinking about everything that had happened in my life. The question that has always accompanied me, from the time I was 11 to 27 years old, would finally have an answer.

Opening my eyes, I looked straight into Death's. Still relaxed with a smile on his face.

"Are you the end, the beginning, the middle or simply a guide?" - @#@#

Her smile widened when he heard my question. You can see from her face that she was really pleased with my question.

"Although you're not the first to be interested in me, you're definitely the first to ask this question." - Death

"To answer your question, I am all that said. Middle, end, beginning and a guide." - Death

"I've been here since the first living thing was born, and I'll be the one who draws the curtains on the universe. Everyone's destiny is to die. For some, death is just a way to go to another level. For others I am a guide, who shows them the path they should take so that they can be punished or rewarded" - Death

"But for you... I am the beginning. The beginning of a new journey." - Death
