Chapter 4 - Knowledge

I laughed until my throat became as dry as sand. I regained my composure a bit later and wiped away the tears of joy and sadness. I sat back down, trying to process if I really managed to free myself from the rubble. I then realized my broken bones and wounds were fully healed, my lost muscle-mass returned in a way better shape than before. 'My left hand's fingers won't regenerate. That must be the limit of the particle's healing.'

"It seems like I really managed to free myself. What are these blue particles really? It doesn't make any physical sense on how I could make something be less affected by gravity. I hate having to deal with something that doesn't make any sense.."

'I hope I will be able to do that again, I want to give my parents a proper burial.' I thought, turning silent and figuring out their exact location.

*Cough! Cough!*

I coughed, clearing my lungs and throat from saliva. "Now, again!" I made hand gestures trying to lead the particles into the rubble "Obey my command!"

The rubble slowly 'weighed' less, making me see a dried up puddle of blood and two skeletons. The skeletons weren't completely void of muscle or flesh, but they were crushed up.

I had to gather my mental strength, in which the particles surprisingly helped a lot. I stepped closer to them and knelled beside them. They died arm in arm, my father on top, trying to shield my mother from the collapsing building. 'A true man until the end..' I wanted to make them lighter, so I tried making them 'weigh' less, which didn't work this time surprisingly.

'Maybe if I..' my thoughts were cut short when I touched my parents by instinct. Immediately blue particles engulfed them both, making them 'weigh' less. I lifted them up and carried them to our garden.

'Is this my power?' I wondered.

I arrived at my garden. I could see a 2 meter deep and 8 meter long crack in the ground caused by and earthquake. I placed them in the crack and then used my powers again, this time without speaking and only gesturing with my hands clapping them together. It worked, the two sides of the crack started to pull each other's mass, closed in on each other and perfectly engulf my parents. After burying them I prayed. I then sat back down, thinking what I should do next.

Superio is the only big landmass on earth. Five Lands share this landmass. In the middle of this continent, there is an independent country called Central Superio, where everyone from the five Lands can live together. Central Superio is on a huge island in the middle of a lake that is also in the middle of the Landmass, Superio. The country is connected to each Land with a bridge, giving me five choices on where to go.

The Nordic Alliance, the Asian Empire both of which are in the north. The Arabic Empire in the east. The African Kingdom in the southeast. Lastly, the European Union which is in the west.

My Mother was from the Asian Empire and my Father was from the Arabic Empire. I had the citizenship of both Lands. That could grant me a guaranteed stay, but then there was the language barrier. I only learned the native language of my Mother, making the Asian Empire the best place to go.

I thought long and hard and I noticed how exhausted I had become. I decides to rest on the comfortable lawn. I closed my eyes thinking of my struggle to survive again and the particles that have seemed to have given me a powers.

I began to sleep.

I woke up, feeling a strange sensation that would occasionally be gone and drift from the top of my body to the bottom, mainly staying on my face. I didn't want to open my eyes yet and move. I concentrated harder on the particles. I couldn't sense anything unusual in the surrounding I had imprinted into my memory while being trapped under the rubble.

5 more of these feelings appeared on my body scanning me from top to bottom. I was sure what it was now. 'Humans!' I realized.

I slowly stood up, looking for any kind of reaction. I did't want to use my powers in front of others but I had to.

I snapped my right hand and made the blue particles seep into the rubble once again. They vibrated for a short time, then I lifted them one by one. I was looking for my Mother's Katana and her 2 Shotos. They were Japanese swords, she brought before coming to Central Superio.

I found the long box. It had a dent on it but when I opened it, the Swords were still unscathed. I looked for other things such as clothes and backpacks. I found my father's old box. In it, a pair of black cargo pants, black boots and a dark-grey military grade west, which had multiple pockets on the front. I later found my brother's black long-armed turtleneck. It wouldn't have fit me before I gained a better physique but now it fit me, like it had always been mine. I changed my clothes, looking for a reaction, trying to see if there might be a man or woman feeling embarrassed to watch me. The reaction would give me insight into their personality.

It worked as I had planned, 2 pairs of eyes first scanned my upper body and flawless six-pack, then immediately vanished. '2 girls in this case..' I said inwardly, trying to hold back a grin.

I took the azure-blue cross-guarded Katana with a black sheathe and secured it on my right side with my belt. Placing it on my right, allowed me to draw it in a reverse grip. I placed the Shotos in my west's pockets.

I looked around trying to figure the exact location of the person that was alone. I had printed every inch in a 100 meter radius into my mind and when I saw a shape that wasn't there normally, I knew where my stalker was. I looked directly at this person and grinned in arrogance. I started running at this person.

The person watching me froze in fear but after starting to run at them, they took of in the other direction.

I wasn't particularly athletic but I had confidence in my abilities. I thought about making the particles fuse with my muscles and it happened exactly as I wished. I gained 50% of my top-speed and caught up to the person. 'It's a woman and she's armed with a pistol. So why is she running away?' I wondered.

When I caught up to her, I kicked away her legs and made here fall to the ground. I then unsheathed one of my Shotos and held the cold steel-blade to her neck and said "Who are you, are you alone and what happened after the impact?"

She was out of breath and scared. She slowly turned around making me see her delicate pale face. Her eyes were wide in fear.

"I-I.. I'm Melina. Please don't kill me!" She stuttered.

"I don't like having to repeat myself, so tell me. Are alone or not? And tell me what you know about the impact!" I ordered, with an expressionless face making her even more scared.

"I'm alone, please believe me. I was ordered to scout out Central Superio for any opposing fractions. As f-f.. for Salan and the impact shouldn't you already know?"
