Infuriating.
It was infuriating.
A powerless human shamed him, in his own court in front of his own people?
And even the saint sided with that human and threatened him? Their king!?
Thud!
He slammed his fist on the handle of the throne.
He was alone.
His wife, his son, his daughters- no one was here and frankly, most wouldn't stand with him.
The soldiers, the ministers, all were dismissed.
He'd done it for himself and he'd done it for the people (or so he claimed)- and what was done could not be taken back.
If he sent assassins to kill the humans, then word would get out and he'd be dethroned by the people. Besides, now that he rationally thought about it, winning a war like that, was nigh impossible for them as things stood…. 'What the hell got over me?' How could he act so rash?
It was almost as though he wasn't himself at the time.
