Chapter 24 - chapter 24 The Fatty

The plots against the Purple sect continued to grow even more complicated as time continued to roll by slowly.

It wasn't only Lin Xi who was striving to release Yin from its captivity. Another party had started struggling to surpass Lin Xi and ruin all her hard work by releasing Yin before her. It was none other than Ge Kai, the Pavillion Master of the Shadow Kill hall.

Ge Kai was considered to be a cold-blooded assassin by anyone who had the qualifications to know who he was. He was the master of all reapers and was rumored to have been one himself at some point in time before taking over the duties of the Pavillion Master.

Despite being an assassin, Ge Kai wasn't very skilled in the cultivation arts of the physical realm. He had had a very weak physique since birth which after the tempering of the Shadow Kill Hall had only become slightly above average among the other reapers.

The reason for his steep rise to his current position had been his monstrous spiritual strength. Mental cultivators were extremely rare among both the Immortal World and the Devil World; therefore Ge Kai was treasured immensely by the previous Pavillion Master.

Ge Kai was famous for his silent assassinations by using his overwhelming spiritual strength. This strong mental strength allowed him extreme control over his emotions and gave him a cold and unfeeling demeanor.

Although Ge Kai loved his son Ge Ta immensely, he had never shown it overtly in order to avoid pampering him too much.

Ge Kai had given Ge Ta complete freedom in how he handled his matters as long as Ge Ta did not bring any trouble to the sect.

This was the reason Ge Ta dared to be unbridled while the other reapers had always been kept on a tight leash.

Ge Kai had always known that his son's lust for Lin Xi would be the death of him. He had warned his son covertly countless times but Ge Ta's obsession ran too deep.

He never took his father's advice too seriously and ended up paying the ultimate price, his life.

Ge Kai did not show it outwardly but he hated Lin Xi to her very bones. If it wasn't for the higher ups of the Devil World protecting her, he would have long since fought her to death.

Although she hadn't killed him with her own hands, she was the reason that Ge Ta had ended up offending someone he couldn't handle.

Ge Kai was adamant on screwing her over and came up with the only feasible means of revenge; by releasing Yin before she could do anything.

One of the various causes of headache for Xiao Luo had been the spies planted by Lin Xi in the Purple Sect but unknown to Lin Xi, the allegiance of one of those spies had changed. Rather it would have been more prudent to say that it had never been with her in the first place. The fatty, who apparently was one of the many departmental directors of the battle hall, had been planted by Ge Kai at Lin Xi's side unbeknownst to her.

Lin Xi in turn had then planted this hidden knife in the Purple sect where he bided his time until ordered by his true master, Ge Kai.

This fatty was really terrifying for he was playing various powerful characters for fools at the same time and had been doing so for hundreds of years. Not once had anyone ever come close to finding out his true identity. He had been playing the role of the departmental head in the eyes of the whole Purple sect, a capable spy skilled in espionage in the eyes of Lin Xi perfectly for all these years and no one could have doubted that this person who was so passionate could have been a traitor.

The fatty had been standing at the top of the bell tower looking as if he was waiting for someone. The sound of impatient flapping of wings was heard and a blood colored bat landed on the fatty's shoulder.

The blood colored bat was the messenger used by the fatty in order to communicate with his information network.

This time he had asked his informants to gather intel about the recent movements of Xiao Luo and the letter most probably contained the same information.

After reading the contents of the letter, the fatty knew that there was someone immensely powerful backing the Purple sect. The suspicious movements of Xiao Luo had all been in order to covertly meet up someone on Mount Dabie; even the precious Wang Yan had been left in the care of this man.

From this information, the fatty deduced that the mastermind behind Xiao Luo and the source of his recently regained confidence was none other than the master on Mount Dabie, Zhang Jian.

Since Zhang Jian had been powerful enough to defeat the young master and even the succuba-Lin Xi, the fatty wanted to be cautious while dealing with him.

In order to reduce the risk of this venture, the fatty wanted to enlist the help of another powerful demon who had been residing very close to the Mount Dabie in the recent past. The Black Fish King had been a very close friend of his in the past. They had fought their enemies side by side and had treaded the path littered with death together for a long time and had eventually become sworn brothers.

The fatty was confident in being able to handle Zhang Jian with the help of the Black Fish King. In order to recruit the Blackfish, the fatty jumped down from the bell tower and set out for its territory behind Mount Dabie.

When he reached there, the fatty was shocked to find that there was someone sitting very close to the waters where the Black Fish King resided. It was necessary to mention at this point that the Black Fish King had been extremely territorial in the past therefore, the fatty being shocked silly was completely justified.

Upon getting closer to the person sitting near the water, he was suddenly very joyful to see a familiar face, the World-Serpent.

World-Serpent was the only person that Black Fish was very tolerant of in the past so even the fatty had a good relationship with him.

He was the only person that Black Fish was very tolerant of in the past so even the fatty had a good relationship with him.

"Hey Kid, have you come to pay respect to my elder brother as well? How long has it been since we last met huh?" The fatty immediately began to reminisce about the old times when he saw that it was an old acquaintance.

World-serpent misunderstood that the fatty already knew about the death of his elder brother and had come to pay his last respects as well.

"Yes, it truly has been a very long time, big brother. If it wasn't for the unfortunate way we have come together today, even I would have jumped in joy after being able to see you…*sighs*"

"Unfortunate...what do you mean kid?" The fatty became dumbfounded at the solemn expression on the World-serpent's face and immediately asked it to elaborate what it meant.

"Oh…so you didn't know…*sighs*. Big brother, you can't meet your eldest brother even if you wanted to now. Something very unfortunate happened to big bro Blackfish." World-serpent started explaining to the fatty about the fate of the Black Fish King in a very sorrowful tone.

The fatty became impatient and his exceptional aura that was not necessarily any weaker than the Black Fish King exploded outwards and pressured the World-serpent so much that it immediately lowered its head and seemed to be trembling and cowering in fear of the mighty aura.

Seeing the pitiful condition that World-serpent was in, the fatty hurriedly retracted his aura in order to give the World-serpent a little room to breathe and recover but in that moment, the fatty missed the cunning smile that appeared for a very brief moment on the World-serpent's .

"Sorry, I lost control of myself for a moment. Please tell me what happened to my brother." The fatty apologetically asked it to continue.

World-serpent pretended to be dazed and coughed up a mouthful of blood.

"It's all right big brother. You were perfectly right in doing that. If it wasn't because of my weakness, I would have already spilled the blood of the monster who did this to our big bro Blackfish." World-serpent had only continued for two sentences before it coughed up another mouthful of blood and to put the cherry-on-top it also began to shed an unending waterfall of crocodile tears.

It had done its best in order to continue to keep the fatty in suspense, much to the fatty's dislike.

The fatty continued to keep it together and patiently waited for the World-serpent to recover from its sorrow.

World-serpent had finished laying the trapping net around the fatty and decided to go for the final strike.

"Big Brother, it was th…that mon…monster Zhang Jian who killed big bro Blackfish." World-serpent choked on its words in between sobs and spilled the words out with some difficulty.

"As if just killing was not enough…that bastard even defiled big bro's corpse. He skinned big bro's corpse and threw the bones like garbage in the middle of the road." World-serpent looked as if it had gathered up its courage and said it all in one fell swoop.

Immediately afterwards, it coughed up more blood and fell back unconscious.

The fatty became concerned slightly because the kid had been harmed because of him earlier.

As the fatty thought up the words of the World-serpent, it became sure of one thing that Zhang Jian was in no way a soft target. Looks like his cautious behavior had saved him this time.

The fatty finished appreciating himself for his decision to enroll the Black Fish King; otherwise he would have definitely regretted his impatience.

World-serpent woke up after a few minutes and coughed a few times before apologizing to the fatty about imposing on him.

"Big brother you have to take revenge for big bro Blackfish. I want big bro to rest in peace but that bastard living peacefully will definitely cause big bro to turn in the grave." World-serpent begged in a pitifully weak voice that was full of hatred and vengeance; even the fatty almost consented to its pleading.

When the fatty recalled the horrific way in which the Black Fish King had been killed, the thought of revenge went out the window in milliseconds.

"Get hold of yourself and restrain your grief. We will take our vengeance when it's time. It is not too late to take his blood even after 100 years because revenge is a dish that is best served cold." The fatty said in a bleak but slightly insidious tone before turning around and vanishing after a few steps.

The World-serpent's scheme had failed and it was cursing the fatty in its heart for being such a coward and for giving up on his brotherhood.
