Ding Xiang had always been sore about the fact that she did not go to school. She was the eldest child in her family and had many younger siblings. The family could only afford to send two kids to school. Ding Xiang's parents sacrificed her chance in order to let their sons have an education. They told her to go to work and earn money so that she could contribute to her younger brothers' school fees.
Both Qiao Mei and Qian'e were highly educated and Ding Xiang had always been very jealous of them. She was jealous that Qian'e could gain Qiao Mei's trust and become the factory director. If she had known Qiao Mei a few years earlier than Qian'e, she might have become the factory director!
She always complained how the world was unfair and that the people around her were not nice to her. She was filled with resentment all the time. Even the ghosts of people who died in vain did not have as much resentment as her!
