Chapter 2 - Playing hard to get...

Wilson paid her more than she expected. The thought of expanding her company has been bordering her recently. But she was short on cash. However, things would take a better turn if Wilson continued to patronize her. She got to the shop with a satisfying smile. Her friend came over and noticed her sudden happiness. She asked her, and she narrated it to her friend. She was happy for her and advised her to always take her time sewing his clothes for a better outcome.

"Though he was a prick, his pay can't be ignored. Can it? " Her friend teased

Throughout that day, the thought of Sophia kept coming to his mind. Any woman that comes to her office will look like her. But he continued to wave it as if he would even approach her. He will just use her and leave her. His playboy attitude came over immediately.

He couldn't keep it to himself again, so he discussed it with his friend, Niel.

Niel laughed at him for a while and told him that it was love, that he had fallen in love.

Are you stupid or what? I only met her like two times, and you're telling me, "love." Wilson retorted, looking at his friend like a fool.

"Love? I have never fallen in love with any woman. Even if I fall in love, is it with some local tailor? " He said, puffing his chest outward. "Besides, this heart is not for love. Love is for unmatured people. Illusions confuse people's thinking. Humph! "

"Don't deceive yourself, follow your mind. You know, I've been telling you that all these sophisticated ladies are just after your money. He advised him

Wilson looked at his friend for a couple of seconds and dismissed his words.

But the thought of what his friend said appeared in his mind and drifted away to his parents' words. "No, that can't happen. After going out with one or two ladies, "everything would be fine. " A confident smile appeared on his face.

Weeks went by and the thought of Sophia never left his mind. His friend advised him to drop his ego and follow his mind. He now concluded in his mind that he would trace her shop.

One evening, he closed earlier than usual and went to Sophia's shop. He was thinking the shop would be quite big and sophisticated, but he was disappointed at what he saw. A piece of simple sewing equipment and some old machines

"So this is your shop. How do you manage to stay here?" His eyes darted from one angle to another, looking at it with the utmost disdain.

She looked at him for a while and said, "What do you mean by that?"

Never mind, don't you see me since I entered here?" he said proudly.

"But you entered here and started looking as if this was a toilet," she retorted, her voice raising an octave.

"Don't mind my manners, good evening." He said casually.

"Good evening, sir. Do you have issues with your clothes or do you want to give me a new one? " She said nervously.

"Not really, I was just passing and I saw you. So I say I should say hello to you, or is there any harm in that? " He said softly.

"No, no, thanks." I'm just surprised. What can I offer you? Have your seat. " She finally said,

They both sat on a long chair and chatted for a couple of minutes. After talking for quite some minutes, Wilson decided it was time for him to leave. Just outside, the apartment is used as an office for the shop. Wilson stops and looks straight into Sophia's eyes.

"You won't mind going out on a date with me, right?" Wilson asked, out of the blue.

What!

Sophia opened her mouth, but nothing came out. She wanted to refuse this arrogant prick. But something forced the word out of her mouth.

"No problem."

"Good!" Wilson smiled and left, not looking back.

Meanwhile, Sophia was yet to recover from what had just happened. She looks at the backside of Wilson and hates herself. "What the hell is happening to me?"

As Wilson was about to enter his apartment, a sudden thought came to his mind. Should I invite Sophia to my house to spend the night? His lips curled upward a bit with a wide grin. He quickly dialed Sophia's number. The phone rang twice before she picked it up.

"Can you spend this night at my place?" He said proudly, thinking she would jump at that idea.

"Do I look like a prostitute? Or what do you think of me? " Sophia retorted, her voice raising an octave.

"I'm sorry..."

"Good night!" Sophia interrupted, ending the call.

Wilson was surprised that Sophia turned down his offer. No woman has ever turned her down. They are even the ones running after him. He was also surprised that he apologized to her and was not even angry that she ended the call abruptly.

'Huh... playing hard to get right... two can play the game.' He shook his head and entered the building.

He rushed into the bathroom and had a warm bath. The wide smile never left his face. Coming out of the bathroom, he saw his mother waiting for him in his sitting room.

"Mum, when do you enter?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.

Have you seen me today? Is that how you greet your mother? "

"Sorry, mum." He said as he came to hug her.

"Alright dear, what is this happiness all about? Has your uncle sent the money? Because I know it is only money that can make you this happy, "his mother teased, seeing the happiness on her son's face.

"No mum, nothing, I'm just happy." He shrugged.

"Hmm, okay. If you say so, Her mother twitched her lips and looked at her son for a couple of seconds.

"I came here to ask about our last discussion. I've started taking steps concerning it." She said one word after the other, looking straight into her son's eyes, checking to see if there was any obvious change.

"Mum, Mum. I'm planning it already, but give me time. " He replied with a wide grin.

"You better be. You're not getting any younger. This hedonistic lifestyle of yours must come to an end. "

"Alright, let me allow you to rest. I have prepared a salad if you cared for it." She teased, leaving her son's apartment.
